"import failed"
Hello, I was wondering if someone could help me out with a problem. I've been trying to import samples onto a SD card recently but for some reason the conversion keeps failing. The card was successfully importing sounds before, so I figured the card got buggy then tested out the conversion with a different card from my SLR cam and I'm still running into the same problem. All my samples are WAV 16bit/44.1Hz and were working fine on that same card up until a few days ago. I browsed the internet including this forum and found people have run into the same problem but none of the solutions I tried seem to be working. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.

Re: "import failed"
I just tried the stock samples & card that come with the SP and they worked fine on the actual sampler, but when I tried to overwrite a pad from with one of my own drum samples it said "import failed" once again. Could there be something wrong with the converter..?
Re: "import failed"
Which version of the os are you using ? The latest (1.06) improves SD card compatibility.

Re: "import failed"
possibly the protection settings? if the stock sounds will play but you can't import over them, i would assume thats similar to the "i can't delete the stock sounds" problem, can you delete those stock sounds?? try and if it doesn't let you, then you have to turn off the protection. i can't remember what button it is, but you hold down somethin like cancel when you turn on the machine, and it flashes a quick message before going to the normal display, just an idea
EDIT: just read the original post and am thinking it is less likely that this is the issue, still worth checking i guess, otherwise it sounds like its possibly an issue with the card?? not as familiar with the sx issues, but thats usually a problem with the cf cards on the OG 404, especially if at one point it was working, maybe try sampling stuff in through the rca's and seeing if there are issues

My os is version 1.06. This card+SP were working fine together last month when I bought them-I was able to put samples on all the banks and make patterns but then last week outta nowhere the converter bugged out and erased all the samples off my card and I haven't been able to import a sample since.

I tried to overwrite some pads with sounds on both the stock and my other card but it's still failing. I turned power off but it's not helpin the converting.
I'm gonna restart fresh and restore the sp to factory settings then install the 1.06 update and see what happens
Re: "import failed"
Are you able to delete samples from the pads in the editor?
Have you tried re-installing the software since it bugged out?
Other than this I don't know what to do. :/

Re: "import failed"
Just tried reinstalling, same problem. I notice the progress bar goes 100% then immediately says import failed, I couldn't delete or overwrite samples on the Roland card that's working.
This has been a frustrating weekend
I dunno what to try next.
Thanks for your help guys, really appreciate it. I just randomly posted here hoping for some help and people responded swiftly. Hopefully I can fix my SP and have fun making music with it again ahhhhhhhhhh!

Re: "import failed"
Picked up a 4GB Lexar card for $10 earlier today, formatted it and tried it out but no luck, still getting same problem.
Re: "import failed"
Try re-encoding the sample using audacity. I've had samples that I know are 16bit 44.1 not import properly. I just re-encoded and tried again and they worked. It's worth a shot at least.
Re: "import failed"
So I tried to convert some sounds onto a card on my friends macbook with a random kick I found and it worked perfectly. Once I got home I tried the same sample on my mac and it failed again. I need to reformat but I can't find my OSX disc
Re: "import failed"
Got the SP working last week! The issue was with my macbook, I reformatted but the same shit kept happening so I bought a cheap USB SD card reader as a last resort and it ended up solving the problem. Thanks to everyone who posted in this thread, appreciate it.
