Sp-404 in conjunction with serato

Hey sp forums! I recently got a 404 for production and djing, I haven't had a chance to rock the sp with serato live in front of a crowd yet but I've tested it a few times, my signal chain is as follows: numark Ttx turntables--serato sl1--numark m2 mixer--sp404--speakers. The problem I am having is that the audio sounds like it's clipping even though the peak meter doesn't light on the sp. Should I have my channel racers about midway up in volume and the input volume of the sp halfway as well? I feel like it may be an issue of not sending too strong of a signal to the sp (as I read in a similar post when searching for an answer earlier). Any suggestions?

I had the same problem when I ran my turntables -> mixer -> sp -> amp/speakers, but it fixed when I lowered the volume on the mixer and used the sp/speaker controls instead, but other than that I don't have anything else to offer.

you mentioned the input volume of the 404. this sounds like the problem. are you talking about setting the internal sampling level or are you adjusting the mic level knob next to the mic in jack? are you going in through the mic in or through the rca's? you should not be going in through the mic in unless your rca's are broken. if you absolutely must go through the mic in (which it's not meant for) turn the mic input knob all the way down to zero. at zero the notch should be at about the 1 or 2 o'clock position (really like 1:30). now turn it up slightly so it's at about 3 o'clock. now the line signal you're bringing in through the mic jack should be loud but not distorted. but like i said, don't use the mic in unless you want to turn everything into mono
