for wax lovers...

How many of you fam have been released your work on wax or any other physical form (cd/tapes) under a record label?

I've been wondering how many in here could accomplished this since I feel that most in here are mad productive and talented people, I know it's very hard and most of us only make music because we love it, but having your music in any physical form it's something really nice that I always want to do again and again...

Back in the days (since 2003) I've been releasing demos, mixtapes under my own independent record label (but that was back in the days when I lived in Peru) there is no such a "real" HipHop record label, actually HipHop it is a very small movement and you can only find 3 or 4 home studios that are able to produce some good/standard quality shit... so after the recording process you just copy your music to a CD-R and then make some covers on your PC and that's how I used to roll...

Then I moved to NJ (2006) and moving my work with different people and friends and I had this opportunity to release one of my albums under a real record label (it was released in Spain under a Spanish record label since we only rap in Spanish) so they pressed a DJ copy on wax with some of the best tracks of my album and the entire album on CD for the stores...
Also we released a 12" with 3 different remixes of the same song on Side A and instrumentals on side B, that was a couple years ago (2009), I need to mention that I'm the first Peruvian releasing HipHop on wax (in Spanish), I said in Spanish because in English could be Immortal Technique the first one (He is the only Peruvian that I know who spit in English and released something on wax, so probably I could be wrong about that...maybe exist somebody else but I'm almost sure he is the first one)

Since then I've been only producing and remixing to upload my music on the net and let people download it for free...

At this moment I'm not planing to release anything on physical at least for the next 2 or 3 years, but definitively I'm going to experience this feeling again because it's my drug...
So, how many of you could achieved this? how do you feel about that? please share your thoughts.

Thank you bro, this is something that I really feel proud but in other hand I don't feel special, I mean, I released this on 2009 and I never mentioned this to someone in here until now just because I always thought that could sound arrogant (?) but I'm not that way...

and reason why I'm mentioning this now it is just because I wonder how many in here have their work also pressed on wax or cd or whatever exist out there, I believe I'm not the only one (I guess)

I've made a 10 second scratch solo to (an end of) a song that's pressed on a 7" vinyl
But maybe someday something more....

if you save up money you can press your own vinyl, my friends in some hardcore/punk bands do it a lot. it'd be dope to sell some 7'' you got pressed yourself

That story about your wax & Peru hip-hop was interesting read. I've always liked this 'latin" kind of hip hop - somehow they manage to "keep it real" in the right way - to my ears at least. Generally I've been listening to hip-hop for over 20 years and it's so very interesting to see how the culture has traveled around the globe and taken many different forms in different places.

IIIII: yeah pressing 7 inches is not that expensive really.

I would love to release some vinyl but the only alternative I'm subjected to, is releasing my stuff on Verbatim Vinyl-CDs. I bought a 100 printables from Amazon. They look like 45s but its a CD and it does look and feel like vinyl. I do my own publishing as well on a underground level, but sells like hot cakes when I sell them on college campuses. I do my own covers too and mastered crafting a real minature gatefold album cover, not those reissued printed types but the old fashion way with glue, paper and cardboard. I'll upload a picture later today. Finally got the net back up.

I have some friends of mine that they run their own independent record label so they have a deal with a company and press their vinyls, I know they pay like $800 per 200 pieces, so it is expensive as fuck! when with those $800 you can make a thousand CDs with covers, art and all that shit... and we are talking about a 1xLP, not talking 2xLP I don't have and idea how much that shit can cost but I'm pretty sure that I don't want to know... it is too much money just for pressing... besides most of the people it's not buying records and the one that buy records buy what they known already, not too much people buying new or upcoming artists...
About the 7" could be great press some but how many songs can you put in one of those? just 2 in good quality (1 per side) if you want to put more than that you would sacrifice quality just to gain a couple of seconds per side... so not worth it for me... and pressing just 2 tracks it is not what I'm looking for, so...

@plexx: Oh boy, about Peru and Peruvian HipHop I have LOTS of stories... about how I started my home studio, my group, beef, etc... damn... good memories for sure!

@jbl: I have just one 12" single and 2 copies of the album (just in case, you know?) I know my DJ also have 1 and 2, then the others the record label sent to the DJs to promote the album... the main idea was promote with DJs who finally are the ones that still using records and sell CDs to the rest...

@Ill: bro here are a couple pics of my last releases living in Peru (2005-2006) this looks like original CDs but they are not, YES they are printed in high quality also covers are made on pressing machines but those are CD-R so after they printed we need to burn the music at home lol... I used to give 50 blank CDs to everyone in the group and we need to burn the music at home so that way I do not need to do all the work by my self...
