KP3 question on sample BPM

Hi guys

I have just started using the KP3 to grab sample loops and it is great at this. The issue I have now is that the samples lock to the current bpm. Does anyone know how to set the global BPM back to the samples BPM or better still turn off the BPM locking on the samples. The original BPM comes up in the software editor so I know its there somewhere, I just hope they made it available on the actual device.

My current best option is to extract the loops using the software editor off onto my 555 and then they are back in their proper tempos.

It does make grabbing a loop easy though so I can't help but wish that it was more of a one stop shop!

Couldn't you just set the bpm on the kp3 to whatever the bpm is on the sample you are about to grab BEFORE you grab it?

Yeah that is what I meant.

I want to grab the differnt riffs that together make up the entire song and so are in different BPM's.

Just had a thought, maybe if u switch the samples to one-shot mode instead of looping mode they will play at the original tempo?

Thanks for the idea but I think I really want samples that loop - so I can lay them over MIDI drum tracks and for them to sound tight without any drift.

I can get single phrases on the SP by playing straight into the guitar input and trimming by hand, so that was never the issue.

What is not coming easy is to get looping samples of bass without clicks and cuts at the end and the wrong amount of time at the end of the loop causing drift or odd sounding timing.

What I was attempting from the KP3, was the ability to loop the phrases. Although after playing last night I don't know if I've yet got that far!

In the thread I hijacked in the 555 Tips section TAHJ mentions the sequencer of the 555 and now I'm wondering if this might loop one shot samples in time for me?

I have too many things to try and I have probably missed something really basic here!

I'm not entirely sure I'm answering anything here, and I haven't used the KP3, but I know I've used loops that have the click you're talking about in my 404sx by making them one shots and plugging them into the first hit of the sequence, then it plays out and the gap between the end and when the sequence starts over isn't really apparent... especially with other sounds involved to make it more seamless. As long as everything else is in time with the bpm set for sequencer, and the "loop" times up pretty damn close with them, then the sequencer will work for keeping them in time.

It seems really obvious now of course! But I was really hung up on looping the sample, that I hadn't really got into the sequencer on the SP and I was starting to wonder why it was there a bit.

But yeah it makes sense to use the sequencer in the same BPM as the bass riff to create the fixed bars.

This is probably SP 101 for most but just what I needed thanks! Now I just need time to try this out!
