how do you us efx grab?
i lost mfm like 3 years ago, lol.I wanna attempt some of this stuttering shit yall are doing, switching into filter & lo fi at the hit of a buttonn,etc--i've always just sequence my shit out like that with resamples.any advice?also, how do you sink delays? newb questions, huh?
Re: how do you us efx grab?
you just hold down tap tempo and then trigger the fx with the mfx button or any others surround the blue eye. I usually just use it to drop everything out (isolator with all knobs at zero) or to add tail on a snare. if you do it real quickly during the second half of a snare, you add reverb to the end only, leaving the initial hit dry and the tail wet. works well for making a snare sit in its own space without the verb being too obvious/distracting.
Re: how do you us efx grab?
well how do yall do all that stuttering stuff?is that just done on the sequencer with the looper or whatever?
Re: how do you us efx grab?
On sp555 its in bank B, "BPM Looper" I think on 15 ?
or DJFX , turning it off and on quickly for a stutter.
I've read on EFX grab but never used it, I find that effect memory does the trick for me.
EDIT: Yeah sequencer works too....turn down tempo to like 1/2 normal speed, quantize at 16 or so, then bang out some really quick pad changes , speed back to normal tempo.

Re: how do you us efx grab?
on the 404 if you use bpm looper you can set the middle knob to "1" and the right knob to "off", so when you trigger the sample it will loop. the loop amount will depend on the samples bpm setting, and the speed of the loop depends on the left knob. when doing it live you can also use djfx looper to manually loop when you turn the right knob to "on", and keep the middle knob to the right and the left knob controls the speed of the loop. syncing the delay only technically works with the sequencer on, i love putting stuff like the snare on the "t8." setting
Re: how do you us efx grab?
didn't know about that, could have saved alot of timeIIIII wrote:on the 404 if you use bpm looper you can set the middle knob to "1" and the right knob to "off", so when you trigger the sample it will loop.
doesn't it also work by setting to pattern mode while listening to pad and tapping tempo without playing sequence?IIIII wrote:syncing the delay only technically works with the sequencer on
Re: how do you us efx grab?
yeah but you have to have the pattern running, this is a good trick though if your multi tracking. even if you do a resample beat you can layer it with synced delay later
actually i've never tried what you described, so i could be wrong lol i'll have to check that out

Re: how do you us efx grab?
you can use fx grab with dj fx looper so when you grab the effect it glitches the sample, mess with the settings for different kinds.

kiki's the girl of your dreams, check the music board.thanks for making it clear and to the point crunk.respect
Re: how do you us efx grab?
sounds like she uses the isolator effect a lot, you can change the effect when its not on then trigger it while resampling. so your beat can drop out all but the bass or drop out just the bass
Re: how do you us efx grab?
omg too complicated
