Hi Evry1,as im a new user of 404sx incredible machine ! I jus wana know : can we play a sampled sound from other midi device? the built in patterns works fi9 here , but my sample sound is unable to play with external midi device & i've to maually Star/Stop the sample thru sp404sx... Ppuhliz help really frustrating! Regards artofnoiz
'MIDI out' out of the other device to 'MIDI in' on the sp-404. You have to send the notes that correspond with the pads that you want to trigger. Look at the table in the back of the manual to see exactly which notes those are. Set the other device to transmit on MIDI channel 1 and it should work unless you've already changed something on the 404. What's the other MIDI device by the way?
Hi, It's really great to have reply &m so thankful 2u, as ijus recieved the reply while in the office once i get back home & then will try ur formula. Actually i've KORG PA80. and wana trigger the sampled loops thru Korg. ithink uhave a clear picture of what i need sir... Again if there's any doubt: [i]Thru adobe in auditon, i ripped a small portion of song(Rhythm only) in wave & assigned a loop in 1of the available pads of 404sx by its pc software & then wan2 trigger that assigned loop from Korg. Aslo is there any bar limitation Or phrases OR i can trigger no matter whatever the loop is??? Again thanks & My Best Regards 2u & each n evry1 backing up this site. Ash
Not sure how you want to trigger the sample. Is it by midi note or sequencer start/stop?
The "loop" sample you have won't loop from an external device unless either...
A - The midi note is repeating at a suitable interval from a sequencer (or manually from a midi keyboard) and the 404 pad is set loop off and not in pattern mode. The sequencer must be playing to it's midi out on the right midi channel and the correct midi note for the 404 pad/bank to have the sample on. Default channel is 1 with the last set of banks on Channel 2. You can change the midi channel of the 404 but not which note triggers a pad - you will have to choose that on the external device.
B - The 404 is in pattern mode and you record a simple pattern so it repeats you sample. The sample pad is also set Loop Off. The 404 is then synchronised by a midi clock from a sequencer and will start when the sequencer starts
C - You have the 404 sample pad set to loop on AND gate on then as for A for the midi channel/note, the sample will loop from pressing a key on the external keyboard/pad until you release the key OR with Gate off, will loop from the first key press and not stop until; a second key press.

Ur suggestions r 100% true & v.helpful, I've tried & the prob. im facing izzz : Im now able to play The sampled item manully in 404 but like other presets & while in pattern mode ,the sampled PAD/Bank(j or f) of SP404 r not blinking or showing any of my sampled item ...
