Hey:

Just wanted to let you all know that the Zoom H2 is a great recorder, for those who are looking for something portable to get ambient sounds. You can route its line-out to the RCA ins on the 404 and dump/resample your sounds. It costs 199... a little bit pricey, but worth it. I've also been mixing songs down to it, using it as a 2-track recorder.....

cool. Can you adjust a sounds pitch?

I've been curious if there is a small recorder out there that can pitch a sample without that timestretch garbage.

Juxt: there isn't a way to pitch the samples as far as i know. It has limited features, just compression.

However, as an ultra small portable field recorder you can't beat it for the price. The onboad mics are surprisingly great!

can't adjust the pitch of your recordings... but (as the other guy said) for a small field recorder (under 200) it can't be beat. The mics are great. I've used it to record trains, birds, etc. Also---it acts as a standalone microphone... i.e. if you are a singer/instrument player, you can set it up as a mic and route it through the 404's effects. Also works as a USB mic for direct to computer recording (haven't done this yet)... and stores 3 hours of CD quality audio on a 2G SD card. Sound like I love it? I do.

yo guys can you upload a demo mp3 on how well it records. i actually trying to find something decent now for outside recordings but i have very limited cash so i guess this is the sht for me.

If your looking at the H2 i recommend saving a little more money and getting the H4. It is a much better piece of gear.

yeah but i compared both specs and the main difference is that h4 has 2 xlr inputs 2 mics only and records 4 tracks at a time. but actually don't need this.

i want to record ambient sounds for my beats and mah games. so want to really hear what can be recorded with this little buster.

i really wanted the h4 but their is a low level hum coming from high quality recordings especially with batteries. i like the h2 but don't know if it 's sound is clean?? then again the h4 really seems nicer with a sp... :roll:

slightly off topic but on the subject of a small machine that pitches, i posted this in "other gear" a few weeks ago. you can find them pretty easily online

in the boss micro-br can adjust pitch and have a 4 recording tracks also, i put a sd card 1gb (max) i use: sandisk :wink:

wow, those little things got pitch control?
Does it have a real pitch control or does it have bad sound quality like the SPs?

those gemini samplers look cool too
