What everybody in here should know

I'm in love with my SP-505!! I used to have the SP-303, 404, the Roland MV8000 totally maxed out, 3 different MPC1K at the same time (all of them fully upgraded), I also had the MPD24 (even this is not a sampler but I need to mention it because I used it with the FL) and right now I have a MPC1K, MPC2500 (all of them fully upgraded) but lately I found myself making beats exclusively with this beauty that it only cost me 65 bucks and I enjoy everything on her, pads, FX (which are so sick!), feeling, sequencer, swing, sound, etc etc I can't find anything wrong... I think people just sleep on this... they are ending really cheap on Ebay and most of the time comes almost new and including the 128MB SM card!

I want to suggest to all of you out there if you have some extra bucks in your pockets go get one of this beauties!

i wish i had your eyes cause i dont really dig mine. The effects aren't that good in my opinion. Kind of like a crappy VST. especially the filter/drive, worst effect on there. And i know its just a matter of opinion so im happy you love it but ive had my taste of samplers and its not high up there on my list. The only thing i really like is the resampling and maintaining the loop when you set it to auto. Thats pretty cool. Its better than a 606, i can definitly say that. The 606 was like a toy in comparison. But with all the autochop this and bpm sync that, just the normal, sample, edit, resample thing is all you actually need. The extra features sort of take away from the machine.
Maybe one day ill begin to like it, hopefully before you find mines on ebay.

Zup bro, I have a pic on myspace where I'm holding 2 in my arms like they were my kids (LOL) I bought the 3rd one right after that... but then I decided to sell 2 and cop the Roland MV8000, at this moment I only have 1 MPC1K, MPC2500 and the SP-505

Yeah, I used to have one myself but I sold it because I thought the 606 was gonna improve on the 505, man was I wrong. Dope machine indeed.

I used to play the patterns and play with the pads at the same time, not to mention muting parts. You would swear its giving an extra 9th polyphony.

I never tried the 606 but honestly I don't dig it since (at least in my opinion) tried to copy or simulate the MPC1K (once again thats in my opinion) so since I already have one I don't really think could be a good addition to my equipment... but definitively the 505 is dope... Springwater bro... you should try do work with the 505 and just forget that other samplers exist, focus your self on trying to enjoy and appreciate her capabilities and I'm pretty sure you are going to find your self enjoying the time that you are spending with her... it is a beautiful machine!

i'm a big fan of my 505, but recognize how limited it is. it may sound weird, but there's something about how easy the workflow is that makes up for how limited it is.

i have an MPC1k, and its features are kick-ass, but the flow is not. i'll take flow and FX with limitations over a full-feature set 9 times outta 10.

but springwater also points out an important thing: regardless of the box, if it just don't move you, it don't move you. totally subjective at a certain point.

word dude, i'll share your joy with the 505. i've had a yamaha su700 and mpc1k, unfortunately had to sell them, but the 505 remains as my sampler of choice. the sequencer works great, and as said before the resampling power is, quite, well POWERFUL. i totally dig the waveform display, and after enough time spent on the machine workflow does get quick. i think this box really does do the whole sampling and creating a beat thing quite well, and for WAY less money than an mpc!

yo i agree 505 is the shit. when your in the zone you can flip beats with ease and it has the illest sound

alright, i spent a night in front of the 505. I had to see what the hype was about and i think i didnt play with the machine enough to see how easy it is to work with. Just sort of wrote it off early, then my boy had it for a few months while i kept using the 808. That thing isnt as bad as i made it seem. There are a few nice things about it. The sequencer doesnt seem to like me tho. I do have some mpc experience and those sequencers are really good for a reason. The 505 always misses something i do. I havent tried resampling my drums to a pad instead of sequencing. Sequencers always get in my way, with the metronome and all. But when i was on the mpc, it seemed like it wasnt a problem. Was easy as fuck to sequence, long as fuck to do everything else in that machine. So i can root for the 505 in some ways and not in others. But its like wearing a pair of sneakers i dont like, though my feet are covered and protected from dirt and dog shit, rocking apair of payless' aint the proper style id like to be rocking.

I totally understand your point bro, definitively MPCs are more complex and powerful machines (reason why they cost much more) but my point it is that the 505 it is a very cheap machine and with all her simplicity and limitations it can also perform amazing tasks, I don't share your thoughts about sequencer, I really dig the sequencer, the swing is sick too... maybe at this point its only matter of tastes... like I said previously I also have the MPC2500 and 1K so I know how powerful and good machines they are, but I didn't pay $65 for any of those... do you know what I'm saying? anyways I'm glad you spent a night with the 505, maybe if you try to dedicate 30 min daily you could start loving her, just a little maybe? hehe...
