-As far as progressing the art form.... Hmm i think its just too easy to break the "rules" of hip hop for it to keep its identity. In its basic form a hip hop beat IMO is...

- a sample loop (whether it be chopped or just a loop)
- Drum Loop
- Some times a low bassline

Create a 2-8 bar loop. extend for however many minutes. done.

But add some synth, unquantized beats or some glitchyness and people are calling it "glitch Hop" "wonky" "aqua crunk" etc.

Basically i guess what im saying is that if its going to sound different and/or progressive, and still be called Hip Hop it has to be within those constraints in order for people to not call it something else.

I disagree completely. I think by definition, Hip Hop does not have a definition...you know it's Hip Hop when you hear it!
