pa system

Post by Cornelius The Third »

looking into buying a pa so i can play more shows with my boy and just have to worry about finding a spot and not having to find a pa. . .we play mostly small house parties so i dont need anything too serious. came across some craigslist deals and was wondering if this cheap 4 channel one

http://www.samash.com/p/Stageworks_H100 ... _-49969099

is even worth it? i found it for $80 bucks so its really cheap but if its guna have alot of problems i dont even want it

also came across a really good deal for a good full system for 300 with monitors and everything mite just save up and cop that, probably the better idea

A lot of ish breaks on PA's that have been used so I'd be wary of that for $80. Test that beast way out if you get the chance. If you're talking under 50 heads for shows then it sounds like it might be a good deal, otherwise the way they describe it makes me think it'd be inadequate for anything larger.

Let me know how that works out because I'd like to invest in something similar soon but was thinking more on the mobile-dj route. I'm thinking I might resort to the soundsystem technique and just cobble one together from a bunch of old hifi speakers / amps.

Here's a crap picture of one I made a while ago for under $50. Could've used more sub but it was loud enough for 50ish people.

(There's a few more speakers on the side and the ROKITS were used for booth monitoring)

Get handy, go to yard sales / thrift stores and start building some cases, you can have a house-rocking system in no time.

You could always buy a little powered speaker and when you grow out of that use it as a monitor. I rock one Behringer B215D Active 550-Watt PA Speaker to rock an entire bar, just one. I know thats more than you want to spend, but powered speaks are simple and effective.

Behringer makes nice gear, how's the bass on that one?

I want something like a pair of JBL Eons someday but those are $$

It is pretty killer gotta watch out for needle hum though. It makes set up a lot faster, no amp and only rca to xlr cords I love mine just rockin one for now and only for parties not every day home use.
