Is sequencing patterns/songs internally any easier on a 404?
I currently have a 303. I'm still learning it, and I'm still working on sequencing music internally on it instead of multi-tracking to the PC. I've been eying the 404 as well and I'm considering including it in my setup, but is sequencing any different' in the 404 or is it about the same as the 303?

yo man i would recommend you master the 303 before getting a 404, the 303 actually has a tighter snap on the sequencer, a better sound engine, and it has some better features than the 404, I think you are just going thru what most of us 303 users went thru, you might have expected the machine to work miracles and make you a better producer, you have to forget everything you think you know about sequencing/beatmaking and re learn from scratch, this time onto a grid you cannot see, but can hear and feel, big big difference from just seeing hey ? thats why the shift might make you feel hopeless or like a bad producer or whatever its normal, its the entree level of sp beat making, it will shatter your ego and then build you back into a sp warrior cyborg and indoctrinate you into the secret teachings of beat mastery and sacred extra terrestrial beat physics that will help you become a perfect and great beat maker, this phase is what seperates the men from the boys, it is tedious to weed out moles akai assasins or anyone else trying to infiltrate our hidden and deadly circles of master beaters. any way,
I recomend have a 303 and 404, but you know that feeling of having to much gear you cant get to work cause its too pretty to look at, thats why having bare minimums actually can help you be more creative and productive, , maybe later, ill post some sequencer secrets and tricks for you

Great post dude. I think most peeps go through a rougher patch in the beginning (I know I did with my 505, but I was a noob in general in beat making and jumped from FL) but when you get the idea and learn the machine it gets so much better. I at least tried to master the 505 before I got the 404sx and now I'm rocking both and I love the warmth of the 505 and the faster processing of the 404sx.captian crunk wrote:yo man i would recommend you master the 303 before getting a 404, the 303 actually has a tighter snap on the sequencer, a better sound engine, and it has some better features than the 404, I think you are just going thru what most of us 303 users went thru, you might have expected the machine to work miracles and make you a better producer, you have to forget everything you think you know about sequencing/beatmaking and re learn from scratch, this time onto a grid you cannot see, but can hear and feel, big big difference from just seeing hey ? thats why the shift might make you feel hopeless or like a bad producer or whatever its normal, its the entree level of sp beat making, it will shatter your ego and then build you back into a sp warrior cyborg and indoctrinate you into the secret teachings of beat mastery and sacred extra terrestrial beat physics that will help you become a perfect and great beat maker, this phase is what seperates the men from the boys, it is tedious to weed out moles akai assasins or anyone else trying to infiltrate our hidden and deadly circles of master beaters. any way,

shit when i bought a 404 i was like "okay this makes sense"
The workflow for me was a lot smoother with the 404sx coming off of ableton + Midi Controller.
Ableton for me just left me constantly adjusting little things and i never got beats done.
