Ive just figured out that if I have a sample (which is lets say one bar long), and I edit its time/bpm (knob nr1) by setting it to "Ptn"(all the way to the right), it syncronize with the actual pattern bpm

so if I create a pattern which is 1 bar long too, and record my sample on it, I can change the bpm of the pattern while its playing and my sample gonna adapt to it.

Of course we all know how the timestretch works on the sp but I think its dope ( I bet most of you already knew about that, so sorry if I wasted your time :) )

Sounds better than just time-stretching. I know that my 555 had the worst time stretching, just sounded so grainy. This actually sounds like time stretching.
Right on man.
Hopefully ill be getting a 404 today, trading with lodger.
Then ill gonna try this shit out!

yeah i actually posted about that here a few weeks ago:

wrong knob, brah. there's a time knob and a bpm knob. bpm will double or half the bpm. time knob will do a time stretch or compress. do you have the manual? this is a pretty basic function, i don't really see how you could have missed it in there...
also, if you set the pad's bpm to 'ptn' it should change its bpm automatically to match the pattern bpm (when you change the pattern bpm)

that's cool, i don't use the sequencer often but never thought about changing the tempo in real time like that...

it seems useful with the resampling approach too, because if you resample your drum pattern till you have a loop on a pad, you can keep it on loop while switching to pattern mode, hitting TIMEBPM and tapping tempo to it while you listen. then, the sample you wanna stretch will be compatible with the tempo of the resampled drums! nice!

Damn I shoulda known this but never really thought about it. Thanks Elhuana. I dont own a 404 but Ive came to this part of the forum twice now and have learned two things about my 555 that are now part of the arsenal. Kel is right this is great for resample technique. Im using it that way right now cooking something up. Thanks for the knowledge guys. Im gonna be coming to the 404 section a lot more now.

wonder if dilla used that for 'time: the donuts of the heart' or if it was mpc or software... sounds too clean to be 303

you should check this thing out Drew, especially if you dig those basslines by madlib.

(from 0:57).

404's time stretching seems to be not so popular because it makes the sample too "grainy" ( not always though ), but I think it's cool. Definitely another "404 -watermark" for a beat which utilizes it.
