Lo-Fi mfx question....

If I remember correctly, this beat was made using those exact lo-fi settings shown in the 505 pic a while back.

i have a 505 and i use the lo-fi effect w/ drums and resample it w/ the eq effect or like what was said the isolator, it brings out the ringing

a.d- no prob. sounded like you were on a serious mission there so i thought that pic would help. i usually rock the bit knob around 12 o'clock too... don't really use it that often though, that's why i keep the pic in my computer--always forgetting those settings for knob 1 and 2

i just use the highest quality and go down a bit and add a bitof filter,but normall i resample to lofi, and then add some eq or isolatar, and then resample to hifi, and if there is a some kind of kick rhythem that needs more bass i';; use subsonic on it and set the threshold to give it a bass line or that other one the center cancel, and get some gnar bass out of there and then stack it on the original sample

Yea,the lo fi button is a little too much imo-then again, joints you've posted with lo fi piano have sounded mad nice. gotta say though-the best cheap alternative to sp-1200 sounding drums & samples is the standard setting (between hi-hi and lo-fi) on the sampletrak (it's 16 bit to begin with,sample rate at standard is 16-17 kHz i think)-extremely simmilar sound,espescially when you change the pitch a little.

here is some examples of how the lofi button colors a sine wave generated with the subsonic tone generator. all work done in the box, with 1 hifi mono wave and one lofi mono wave. notice the lofi wave with a buzz at 11000 hz, maybe this is the lofi frequency it is trying to emulate.






i will run some tests with the mfx, and see what conclusions can be made about this.

nothing out of the ordinary about the mfx wave forms except when you go to a really low noise rate, then the waves start to look like this ,

shifting frequencies looks really cool.

maybe if we know what noise signature different vintage gear has, we can better understand the mfx and how to authentically reproduce sounds of vintage machines.

interesting indeed, although i dont know the pictures show. i guess it mostly depends on the qualities of each sound how the effects change the character?

303 on 'long' mode is buttery flaves too (in b/t lofi and reg mode)
