ok, serious question

Post by sakabilli »

soo the past few pieces ive recorded, ive been doing it using my mpd and my 404. the mpd controls ableton on my mac, whose output goes into the 404. the 404s output then goes into the input of my mac, and i record that in garageband. atleast thats what i think i was doing. i just tried it now and got some ridiiiiiculous feedback stuff going on. am i making a stupid mistake? help me out here haha

so you are going from mac -> sp -> same mac?

thats a feedback loop buddy. either you disconnect the outs from the mac or the outs from the sp.

either you get another computer to record into, or you resample everything/record everything to your sp first then disconnect the outs from your macbook and then record back into your mac.

You need to turn off monitoring on whatever channel the SP is coming in on.

yeah thats what i figured haha. i just couldnt wrap my mind around how i used to do it. im guessing possibly ableton rewired to one track in garageband and then my sp direct in to another gb track. thats no feedback loop.. right?
thanks guys :)
