Everything...

Post by a.D. »

This is a song i recently recorded for my girl's birthday...as many problems as we have and as close as we've come to splitting many times-this breaks down how i truly feel about her,and how much i hope we find a way to really make things work.....anyway-this is a pretty rough version,i plan on re-recording it.I had to make the beat and record the vocals mad quick,(I actually recorded the vocals straight into the sp instead of my 8 track)so i wouldn't get busted,lol..really wanted to make it a complete surprise. My voice kinda sounds like shit,& i wanna make another beat for it,revise the lyrics in a couple places, maybe add a real hook. Still, some feed would be appreciated...thanks a lot, peace

Great track man. Love the way the sample transitions to the beat seamlessly, can't wait to see what the finished product is like.

nice a.d., real smooth and i like the clickyness of the snare (block).. my only advice is to not work too hard on changing around the lyrics, it flows well

I like the simplicity of the lyrics...I mean I feel you on the lines that you called out, but really for a love song it's kinda more fitting to be simple and cheesy, b/c love is kinda like that...but yea, I got a real great vibe from this track. the line bout coffee and cigarettes when you first met hit me, I been there when you first meet a chick and you just sit down and talk it out..that's a solid foundation tho if you can just sit and talk and get along. hope ya'll work it out in the end

damn, thanks endor, words like that really mean a lot to me-seriously,thank you man. & I'm definitely working on getting things close-i'm trying to release 3 major projects all at once though-and this might be my last real go round on the mic,so i'm just taking all the time i need till i feel i got things as perfect as i possibly can.& sin, thanks too...yea,idk-when it comes to relationship songs,(and i hate most artists music that focus primarilly on love shti,in any genre) personally i like stuff along the lines of a ghostface more than a slug..just like on some political shit i'd rather listen to a nas or a kanye than a sage francis. You wanna touch people-you need to speak on a level all people can relate to on some level, not toss around a bunch of obscure bookworm refferences, exxaterated emotion & 12 syllable words.

Still, there's quite a bit i can do to make htis joint better...just an average song at best 8)

thanks again...

I got to say that you got real flow, would ya call yourself an MC or a lyricist(sp??)?

for feedback; I was gonna ask what you put your voice through to make it so def but then I read your o.p. haha. And I thought you were on some t.c. helicon shizz.

Hey,again, thanks for all the positive feed.. @akedemik-yea, i've always heard that, there's actually been times where i've tried to lower my vocal pitch when spitting so i don't sound like i'm trying to bite ot emulate. Not that nas hasn't been in a huge influence, but that's just my voice,lol..i've always sounded like that when i rhyme since before illmatic came out.

@jb-personally i feel the 2 go hand in hand, any good mc should be able to be considered a lyricist as well...guess i can't really answer that question though, that's up for others to decide. wish i knew what tc helicon was,lol-but yea,i just recorded straight into the sp. A lot of people don't realize that most sp's can be used as all in one "recording studios" if needed..instead of using the mic jack, use any decent mic pre amp with a high quality mic, sample yourself through the rcas with the beat playing in headphones from another soundsource..and you can get pretty much as good a sound as any digital recorder or software,(or as dirty a sound as you would want)with all you need for vocal eq,compression,reverb,delay,etc....next thing i wanna try is putting lo-fi mfx on vocals, should sound interesting :)

and thank you ella and everone else,i'm really inspired right now to knock out a bunch of shit....
