Beatfader...
Did you guys catch that? It might just be the beats being awesome, but the concept also looks cool M4L only though:

Re: Beatfader...
is max for live ok for live6? is it free?
Re: Beatfader...
naw, nothing is free in this world. I don't even think that m4l works in live6, I dunno for sure though.
I really like this concept - I just wonder what sound generators these guys use - they have so many "hip" things going... like that "water-spill-smack-snare" thing... argh.

Re: Beatfader...
there are samples assigned to different points of a fader or a knob. i think there are three points, min max and somewhere in the middle. so if you assign kiks on min value, snares (miltiple) on max value, and hats+percussions somwhere in the middle ir would play pseudo random beats depending on the speed of fader movenent and amount of times the fader passes certain points, for example if you hit kik two times not crossing the middle value of the fader it would play two different assigned samples. fun toy =]

that's dope about vst, hope it'll be free or cheap
Re: Beatfader...
Hello, tank you for your interest.
its not 3 sounds by fader, its configurable from 2 to 16. in the videos we use the 8 notes settings. with this settings you get 16 midi notes by fader cause when you go from left to rigth you get 0 to 7, and from rigth to left 8 to 15.
here is the full infos:
""You can set the number of control points distributed along the fader between 2 and 16.
Everytime the fader's cursor passes over one of these control points, a corresponding note is
trigged. For each control point the midi note number sent out is different when descending
than ascending. Therefore in for four control points, eight different note numbers
will be sent, triggering eigth 'events' that could be samples or whatever you want.
the position of the control points is set using a 'margin'. If the margin is 10 the first
control point will lie at value 10 and the last control point will lie at value (127-
10)=117. The non-extremum control points are regularly distributed in the (10-127)
range.
2) the velocity of outputted midinotes can be either 'fixed to a value' or calculated in
real-time following the cursors's moves.
This control brings up a additional touch of
expressivity. ""
about the different sounds for same fader points, its cause we use another of our device between the beatfader and the sampler.
this device is a counter, you can set wich note increment reset or transpose the counter.
we work around diferent projects arround the beatader and counter: ipad ap, vst and hardware.

Re: Beatfader...
Im trying to figure out how to mimick this in Reason (using a slide control to play multiple sounds). I will post it up once I've found it.
Re: Beatfader...
Update: All I could figure out was using a slider to trigger two sounds.admbmb wrote:Im trying to figure out how to mimick this in Reason (using a slide control to play multiple sounds). I will post it up once I've found it.
Basically, create a combinator and sync your midi control to "rotary 1". Then create two MClass compressors inside the combinator (dont connect them to anything). Create a ReDrum or Kong Drum inside the combinator and route the CV Outs of each MClass compressor to the "Gate In" on the drum banks you want to use. In the combinator, In the "Modulation Routing" of the Programmer, use rotary 1 to control the "input gain" of both compressors, but change the min and max of one of them to be 127 for the min and 0 for the max (so they are opposites). Now, when you use your slider, at either end of the spectrum, you can trigger the samples and cut em back and forth. Works even better if you assign the two drum sounds to a mute group in Kong so they cut each other off (i.e. a kick and snare).
I love the expressiveness of this...its a whole different feel than you can get from tapping pads. Down the road, I fully intend to get Live and use Hermutt's application.
