I think when the record store owner was speaking on kids "stealing music"- he was more reffering to the mindset a lot of youger people have now that have grown up w/the internet-and free music- I don't think music means quite as much to people nowadays as it used to-it's become so disposable,and a lot of younger people take it for granted. He wasn't speaking strictly from a diggers perspective-back in the day as a kid you actually had to find a way to get money to cop tapes & records,save it up,and be real choosy about what you got-i mean it was a really BIG deal when you just got one new tape or album,ya know?lol....your music was something you truly cherished-not that people don't now-but it's just not the same. BUT from a diggers perspective-to me,and I think most would agree that do this-going digging for records ,taking them home and listening to them,finding those gems...is one of the most rewarding parts of this whole shit- for me it's almost more fun than making beats out of them-because by the time you get to flipping them,they've kinda lost that "oh shit,you hear this?" value-to you anyway-not the people that will be hearing the final product
but other than that, the dude from ultramag very suprisingly came off kinda assholeish imo-it was kinda funny to see him pointing out average,standard well known shit like he was really putting people onto something,like in almost a confrontational manner "what yall know about this"? it's like chill man,you're talking about the bongo break and skullsnaps,lol. cassanova came off as whiny- you could tell he was getting on minnesotas(the cat with the toothpick) nerves,lol-him and psycho les imo were the only ones conducting themselves on a down to earth level,as well as the store owner. And again,what happened to making beats w/ 40 bucks of records?
Anyway,yea,as you can tell by my posts the last couple days,i have mad exciting weekends...
still I enjoyed it though
