cool track
bad grovey atmosphere that i like
what i would preferred is:
the first 20/30 sec pattern to stay almost for all the track
a snare "less industrial"
those are very subjective thoughts

I also liked the first part the most. I don't mind the snare really, I think it's in the right neighborhood as far as the sound of the track but its def too loud and needs to be dirtied up more so it sits with the samples better. maybe resample the snare with some effects like bit reduction and well done compression. the kick drums is very soft to my ear as well. this track is kinda militant, I want the kicks to be punching my ears a lil harder. I like what you are doing here but maybe explore using effects with your drum sounds and layering them more to achieve more thump and also a sound that works with whatever track you are working on

random comment: I find it very annoying how the default when you click a link on spforums is to go directly to that link in the same window/tab...wtf, why doesn't it open a new tab like every other place on the net

yo thanks for the input. . .

@ sinapse- i feel u on the drums, they cud def be better with some work, what kinda techniques u use with the effects to make the kicks harder? cuz i fuck with shit but i do kinda have trouble gettin the kicks to hit like i want.. .i can get it closer when tracking them out and mixing but i'd like to get em nice on the box cuz i dont always end up takin the time to track out my beats

also yo u livin in philly? thats where im at rite now and one of my boys livin here is from the poconos too yo, just thought id throw that out there lol

@ewpw yo i feel u on that capture the moment shit! hah but i do wanna make it sound better and i also may have to much beer in me but fuck it haha thanks for the feedback

no prob on the feed. as for kicks one of the main things is sampling good fat hard hitting kicks. you can't really make an intrinsically weak sound thump like it should. but once you got them in the sp its all about layering. so say you got two kicks and you wanna layer them, you just resample triggering both pads at same time, you can apply efx like EQ to boost the lows when you do this resampling. one thing I would def say to try out once you have pretty good kick sound to start with is "parallel compression"..take your kick and resample it to another pad with pretty heavy compression (i like the vinyl sim but some like mfx12). then resample the two layered so you are layering the same kick sound but with hi compression and low compression. basically these layering and compression techniques along with EQ is where its at.

you from Philly? where you staying at? You active in the music scene at all? I lived in South Philly. I actually moved out the city in Decemeber. Living up in the Poconos now...but I lived in Philly from 2004 til recently, and that's basically where I built my rep up as an emcee even tho I'm not all that active in the scene down there anymore, tho I will be down for a show or two this summer.

yea, what he said,lol-i'm somewhat new to parallel compression-but using it and eq,you can get any decent sounding kick to knock-you can also go a step further with the sp,and add a touch of subsonic to the kicks-just apply it to your new resampled layered, compressed whatever kick without adjusting the knobs and it adds somewhat of an 808 type extra thump-and if you have multiple kicks, you can adjust the pitch slightly for each of them with the subsonic too.

Cool. has a haunting vibe 8). I like the sounds that come in around 1:00.

Perhaps more variation is needed?
