I'm getting a kick out of some of the replies here. I'm not the least bit pompous...and if anything I feel good about starting some dialogue. If you notice, I have not been specific about anybody in particular. I guess I am testing the waters if the music thread is supposed to be all about self promotion, or an invite for true criticism.

the reason people are reactin to you this way is because:

1) you're telling people what to do on a free forum
2) you're telling people not to post beats if they arent up to a certain standard..

number 1 is enough on it's own.

But what of all the people who're learning to produce? How will they ever improve or get help? Like I said originally, this forum is for producers to share things, it isn't the iChoonz store.

im a visual artist; painting, drawing, graphic design, etc... and i do participate in art forums. do you think anyone there would have the audacity to talk shit about a drawing that is created obviously by a beginner? sure if you're a no-life troll but honestly, that's fucked up. its like me shit talking a 15 year-old's drawing. you know what i do? i HELP them get better. i always help anyone that's willing to learn and i've got no secret-techniques to hide. i've got nothing to take from them and nothing to gain from dissin em (unlike you). i've heard your beats and they're alright (typical beat music, nothing original). but after this thread, you best believe this changes the way i perceive you as a person.

when you finally man up and realize you came across as an asshole (dont matter if that wasnt you're motive, it looks like it anyway) you should apologize to everyone for being one.

I really think both 'oppinions' mentioned in this thread
aren't false. For me, there are two approaches to
get into the 'your music' forum:

1) Listen to great music
this approach supports adam bmbs oppinion. in this case i
just look for some free album on bandcamp, to which i can relax.
And at this point, sometimes its a _bit_ annoying (well, not so hard..) to search through the first pages to get some longplayin' stuff.

2) get new ideas/feedback/music production curiosity
if i'm in this 'mood' i got to say, a.D.s statement is totally correct,
because in order to get better, sometimes you need to get out
and search for feedback.

so my idea would be to split this forum, to create space for
both 'topics'.

You make some cool stuff I checked the Soundcloud - not that you care after I trashed you in this thread but just wanted to show that I'm objective...I am sure you meant well, and I agree that there is a good portion of music that isn't on the level of the high quality stuff, but that is the case everywhere you go -- whether it be any place on the internet, most live shows/showcases...you gonna have artists that are really dope, some that are just good, and some that are mediocre to wack...they prob all love it equally, but it's like sports, not everyone can be the best player on the team. I think you just came off really pompous but I don't even know you so it's kinda rash for me to say that. also, I think a.D. said it more or less that this was some captain obvious shit...there is no one posting up crap intentionally. we just all on a trajactory and some of us are further along, and everyone has diff inherent talents to work with. I agree completely about not sharing every damn thing you make tho, 90% of the music I make never touches other ears, and that is not an exaggeration. Peace.

WTF is this shit??? ADmbmb who are you to tell anybody shit??????????? I havent been on this board for a couple weeks (cause I have a real life) and this is the shit I have to read. What a bunch of douchebaggery bullshit. All because some dood found a sp for cheap at a pawnshop, Cmon man. I came to this board for advice and thought wow what a bunch of cool guys dropping knowledge helping each other get better. Sadly Ive come to realize very few of these guys I talk about as being "cool" are still here. Since christmas this forum has been overrun with whiney little bitches. Im blaming it on a bunch of mommies and daddies buyin shiney new sp's for christmas. What do you expect when the sampler has become the new guitar, meaning every kid wants one. I have loved the fuck out of music and wanted to make it all of my life but had a poor upbringing where my parents couldnt even afford the 300 dollar jank ass turntable package in the back of source magazine when I was a kid. Now that I am older I can finally buy this equipment for myself and try to pursue my passions. I joined this forum back in December after checking it out for a month. And was really glad to be a part of it. Now I think this shit is a joke. Im glad I checked it out tho cause it helps me to remember why I dont fuck with the public and stay anti-social. At least by being anti-social I can stay positive and not have to be subjected to bullshit like this. I CAME TO THIS FORUM FOR FEEDBACK BECAUSE I AM NEW AT THIS SHIT AS ARE A LOT OF US. I havent gotten any feedback on any of my arena battles and I have asked for it from the beginning. Just because I post a beat doesnt make me think that beat is the shit. Maybe I am putting it up because I want someone else to tell me that shit sucks this is what I would do with it (a.k.a. constructive criticism) Instead we get people who cant even call a person out on a individual level making bullshit ass post calling out the whole forum. I feel what you are saying but overall I'd say this is one of the better, more positive/productive forums on the internet. If you think this board is full of nonsense you wouldn't believe what some other forums are like. It's real easy to ignore the unpleasant aspects and utilize the good parts. I feel you about wanting feedback and not getting it, personally I'm just so fuckin busy I rarely have time to listen in depth enough to provide useful comments.

yea lol but that is pretty much the way it is in every aspect of life, everyone bites on the drama and looks past the substance. altho I gotta say on this forum specifically there has been some really useful dialogue over the years and a lot of great music shared which has received a lot of attention

word, I guess like a.D. was saying tho that should be something that don't even need to be stated. if you aren't trying to constantly improve then you prob shouldn't be doing music. I don't think I've ever met a real artist that wasn't trying to get better or evolve
