Open Challenge: Vinyl Edition

Post by ghost bazz »

Since there's been some talk of an open challenge for a minute... I figured I'd take the initiative and throw something up here. Open to any equipment... must include an SP somewhere in the mix... and must include the use of some dusty vinyl sample material. Let's keep a reasonable deadline of two weeks.

Start diggin! 8)

I no longer have a working turntable...can/does this include samples sourced from vinyl but not direct; jazz/soul songs pre-digital stuff, old movie soundtracks, etc?

Not to be a buzzkill, but I'd say that there needs to be some direct vinyl --> SP interaction.

Sampling from your own records is a lot more personal I think.

This is the "vinyl edition". An open challenge with one simple requirement. Not everyone needs to get in on it... there are regular arena challenges that are goin on at the same time if people don't have a turntable to work with. This is OG.

Not even trying to get into a debate... but if someone wants to do so, they should start a thread in the "free speech" area... or just search for previous threads, as the topic has been covered numerous times. And if you don't have a working turntable... you should get one. 8)

Start a thread about what? This isn't about if sampling your own records is more personal, etc(although you could download a record you already have)-it's just about someones turntable being broken. If he hadn't said anything, no one woulda known anyway.

I don't think it's that big of a deal... you either got the goods or you don't. Of course, as always... everyone is on their honor.

Hope you're able to do that man- a cheap goodwill t.t. with a quality cartridge does just fine on any level--of course not all of us are just able to go out and pick up a turntable at any given time, even if it's a cheap one.I'd love to see you win this.... Also I got a feeling this challenge is gonna need as many entries as it can get.
