Definitely not the man for the job imo either. He's always come off as pretty much a douche to me-there's a reason why he's almost always cast as a egotistical scumbag-that's kinda how he comes across in real life.I feel the rolls he's played & his public persona puts him way,way below the bar to even attempt to play mlk-or to be given the honor of portaying him.I have a feeling this play will end up being cringe worthy & embarrassing. But I guess in the eyes of the people putting on the play it was either him or morgan freeman, lol.Freeman already played malcom x early in his career though(before the spike lee version).

But for real-when hollywood actors are put in these kinds of rolls,it really shows you how completely dispensable the vast majority of them are. For every superstar actor, there's thousands of other actors,or just regular people that could be doing the exact same thing they're doing, just as well,or better. The fact that children & musicians can step in front of a camera and be just as good as oscar winning actors proves this. This reminds me of lawerence fishburn's recent "one man show" as thurgood marshall. Anyone see that? It was so crazy overacted and over the top...just..bad. I hate how these people are put on the pedestals they're on-and none of them acknowledge the ridiculousness of it,they revel in it....the true talent in movies & stage are the writers....

Anyway-as far as hollywood actors go-maybe terrence howard would be good to play mlk?

agreed man... shits like rap nowadays... we KNOW most of these dudes shouldnt be in the spotlight but they are, lol... def agree...

i think T.Howard could work... or even don cheadle (sp) i like his roles more...

i also think wood harrison could rock the role as well... Sam L is too much of a hot head to come off as a peaceful person. even in unbreakable he came off as a bad guy in a whee chair, lol. hollywood  whats the science...

i agree with what you have to say a.d. samuel l jackson really only plays the badass macho man role and for him to do that is hilarious. I'm all for experimentation but samuel and a broadway performance, i wondering if he can really pull it off. someone like terrance howard would work out so much better. I think the reason for casting samuel l jackson is the shock factor of him playing in a broadway. It would bring in massive amounts of money and who knows maybe a new career change is ahead for sam
