why not just hit play and while playing the track just hit shift+pad banks to bring up the track mute menu. you can mute/unmute or solo them live without any hassle. or you can use assignable sliders to cut down the volume of the current track.

yes, i know this and it's a very cool feature for me, like on mc505 or mc808/909, truly i feel this as like a recorder or a mixer desk...

There are many ways to mute tracks but SHIFT + PAD BANK is the fastest and great for realtime. Also on the Song screen you can highlight a track and mute it manually but gets akward during realtime play. Also samples with Exclusive Groups (aka Mute Groups) does magic.

It was hard to learn the first few weeks but after a while of playing and reading the manual I breeze thru this machine now.

My friend copped a 8000 for $300 at a pawn shop, it was just missing the jog wheel but works 100% fine. Believe me, since I've got the MV I've been checking prices just for the hell of it and saw a few in the $500 range. But since its discontinuation they've become somewhat sought-after.

It's worth it though, but you might have to sell some gear for it.

A small trick for un-muting lots of tracks at the same time (in Song mode, but works in Pattern mode too); use the mouse and VGA, press mouse button over the mute symbol on your tracks and move the mouse down. Now it will un-mute all tracks you go over with your mouse.

If you're fast you could use this for live situations, but using the track mute menu is a better idea for those instant mutes.

Its huuuuggge!

I underestimated its size when I had it imported from New York and the UPS man delivered it to me on a hand-truck. Its 17 inches by 19 inches, sorry I don't know the metric system in France. But thats like two turntables putted together.

It's huge, but still comfortable.

My turntable is about the same size I think, perhaps slightly smaller. So yeah, it's some real-estate for sure. :D
