Re: Hacking the 404SX
Hey guys,
this weekend I had some time to work on the program.
I am now able to read and write banks, sample parameters, it is now all working fine on the machine.
There were some interesting details in writing the wav / aiff files to the card: each sample must have its own Roland information embedded into it, which contains the sample's pad position on the device. This seems redundant in my opinion since the files are already named after the bank and pad it is assigned to, so we must write this bit of data in each file copied. This introduced some more work on the bank writing side. This however is ready now, I need to come up with a little UI to monitor the progress but thats all that's missing.
I will release a beta this week, hopefully within the next days.
Please sign up here if you want to test it:
http://labs.rumori.hu/bankrobber/beta-testing/
Stable release will come once we find it working without show-stopper bugs.
Please keep in mind, this is for the SP404SX right now. Support for earlier SPs will come in the future releases.
I also plan to do an introduction video, but don't want to tease people without having the program out at least in a beta form.
Thanks

super cool rmri. when you have earlier SPs supported, I'll get in on it.
one question: are the sample parameters in the software the same as they are on the hardware? which is to say, can you introduce panning via the software, or is that a no-go?

Re: Hacking the 404SX
Here's a little video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QtH-x6_ar1o
I just wanted to demonstrate the looping capabilities, half and double the loop length, move the looping area etc.
You can edit the start and end points manually too, but I did not touch on it here.
BPM calculation is also shown but it's a bit blurry in the video.
Finally I export it to the card and test it on the SP.
More to come...

As far as I know there's no panning support on the SP (besides applying effects to the sample and resample)
I can add panning by altering the sample, lowering the left or right channel volume. But after that the sample will be modified and you cannot edit it in the SP.
Re: Hacking the 404SX

Re: Hacking the 404SX
this is super awesome,
is there a way to hack the 404 operating system, to allow it to sample or resample the sequencer patterns. ?
