Hi everyone.
I'm new here and have posted in a few threads including the latest battle. In one of the threads there was a discussion about labels - "producer" vs "beatmaker" vs "composer" vs "arranger" and other stuff like that. In the battle thread, I noticed that my beat was very different from the overall sound of other members and I noticed that the other sounds were pretty consistent.
This got me thinking about genres and around here I've heard labels like "trip hop", "experimental", "electronica", "gloom", etc... Over at Beattips.com I hear a lot about "boom bap" and a more mid 90's sound. At future producer's there tends to be a bit more synthy stuff than elsewhere. Just my observations, but I was wondering what you guys would say the overall sound in this forum is? Of course everyone is different and labels suck but I am curious to get your guys' ideas on what genre of music you feel you and the other members here are generally creating.

tends to trend just like any other source of ear candy. its been a while since ive dug into the forums albums but doods seem to be into that glitch stuff. microwave beats. i would say it fluctuates every now and then. if you dont like it, wait a while..... like the texas weather, if you wait a bit itll change.

Very interesting question! If you let me act stupid and not precise I should say 90% hip-hop 9% electronica 1% something else!Chess wrote:I was wondering what you guys would say the overall sound in this forum is?

mmmmmmmmmmmm Microwave. These samplers let people blend any noise, but you can tell folks like beat based music around here. That's my guess
