i liked that high pitched synth you used. THat with the bass gave it a really Cosmic vibe imo.

Swooooon... What's your opinion of the synth sounds? Have you spent much time creating your own patches, and how is saving / recalling patches?blue_lu wrote: real time sequencing - what do you mean by that? the track posted here was a actuall just a 16 bar arrangement as a loop. manipulated and eq'd on the fly.
swing - yes. lots!
although the real time playing is much better though. another nice feature is that you press record and MANUALY advance the tape while recording drums...

Heat Vision, thanks man! That's exactly what I wanted to achieve - cosmic sounds...Heat Vision wrote:nice one

Komsat:
Synths are good sounding and have a broad variety. the lead synth is the "cluster" engine which tweaked differently can do all sorts of juno esque brass and pads. then you have a lot of fm and dirty digital synths.
I have to be honest - I didn't create any user patches so far - OP-1 remembers all your last settings, and I usually work on a track and move on the next, which is inspired my mindless noodleing and tweaking. You can save user presets for the synths, I just didn't get into that yet. recalling works quite easy:
If remember correctly you can press shift and the synth button. you then browse through the eight different engines on one side (blue encoder) and browse through the patches of the active/selected engine on the other side (green encoder).

Enjoying/hating these beats. I want mine haaha! Only hating cuz I'm jealous, good job on the real and nice to share!

Yeah it's really annoying that there is no timeframe.. I'd be tempted to order one, but I would want to know when it would be ready.. i'm not gonna order one then have $800 sitting in limbo for months and months..
Anyway, I've got other things to buy before that.. OP-1 is the kinda thing I would buy instead of a nintendo DS or something for plane trips/etc

There's also the fact that they sold out in a day so they aren't taking order till they get out the first batch of 500. When they go on sale again I would hope they would have their shit together though. I have no regrets because I will still get one of the first 500 op-1's whenever mine happens to be ready.
Re: op-1 is here (funk de la future)
I moved internationally after I ordered mine so I think I'm going to have to get it shipped from the states after they ship it from Sweden. It's going to have traveled around the world more than I have by the time I get it.
Last question on functionality: can you chain sequences together? I've been looking for a backpack live setup (NO LAPTOP) for ages and I'm hoping SP404 + OP-1 could do the trick. IE: have the OP-1 play backing sequences and trigger live drums/samples/efx on the 404. What's your take on that?

BUUUUUMP
Because I just mine and it's goddess tits. For my style (glitchy nerd glasses hop / post-backpacker) it's pretty much the most ideal piece of hardware I've encountered.
Made a short clip with it last night:

It is so choice.
If you have the means

I highly recommend picking one up.
