$800 but you'll be on a waiting list and I myself would rather invest in a mpc myself. But if you sell the sp303, you might regret it. I don't see what's stopping you from using both.

well, I might trade the sp303 for a 404 as the sp would be used to trigger tracks... the op-1 is very far from being as simple as its appearance wants you to believe. the drum sampler is very good and I have four tracks I can mute/solo live.

also - the synths inside really sets it apart from the mpc, the internal 4 track sequencer is a lot more "hands on" than an mpc. so to be honest, as a track /beatmaking machine, I can totally see the op-1 being better for me than an mpc1000 (which is about 150 euros cheaper here used of course). op-1 is as deadly as it is expensive (unfortunately).

Not saying it wasn't, but I find it funny they took 2 years to get this ready for the public, and then by the time it was ready, it sells out, and then you have no word or idea how long you'll be waiting to buy one. I'm sure the OP-1 is great, but I wouldn't want to wait months and months just to come up with $800 bucks, just to be told I'd be joining a list of a bunch of other people in line who are ahead of me waiting to get theirs as well. It might pop up on eBay, but for twice as much if the demand is so high. Kind of like when Nintendo Wii just hit the market in the holidays, but there were so few available people just bought & sold them for way more than they paid for them.

true, even the first batch isn't even completely delivered. They are having some kind of manufacturer problem. I think once production is up and running prices will come down as well.

Ella, yes it is indeed also a midicontroller (via usb) for your pc / mac if you want it to.

Thanks for all taking a listen, I realize its not that great and pretty simple, but I was so excited about the op-1 so I had to share ;)

Nice track! I'm impressed with the sound quality. I preordered mine about .5 seconds after they went on sale, still waiting on my shipment though. For me it's all about SP-404 drums + effects + resampling and OP-1 synth and four-track recording. Cannot wait!

I'm fascinated with this OP-1. So far, all the demo videos Ive seen have been some shitty ass music. Anytime there is a device that does new tricks (esp. hardware) its got my attention. The glitching and tape effects seem really unique to me.

Few ???'s:
So, does it do time stretch?
Are the pads velocity sensitive?
Is there real time sequencing?
Can you apply swing?

sorry - missed the last post.

timestretching - not exactly. you can change the tempo of the sequencer without changing the pitch or tempo of the already recorded tracks though. also you can record at a different tape speed than you play back the file.

velocity sensitive pads - no. its like a very nice computer keyboard. but the keyboard works. complex chords are a little tough to play, but practice makes perfect.

real time sequencing - what do you mean by that? the track posted here was a actuall just a 16 bar arrangement as a loop. manipulated and eq'd on the fly.

swing - yes. lots! :)
although the real time playing is much better though. another nice feature is that you press record and MANUALY advance the tape while recording drums... haven't really dived into it, but there is a lot in this machine. unfortunately I will have to work the whole weekend (to pay for op-1 ;) ), so I will be away for a little while.
