Re: sp 606 and ableton live
I want to write and record tracks into ableton.I have the 606 and desk both connected via usb to my mac.Ableton recognizes the 606 no problem.I have ableton set to slave and can manipulate the tempo via the 606..The problem is when I play patterns from the 606 I cannot hear anything or see anything in the grid map when trying to record ...
thanks
thanks
Re: sp 606 and ableton live
606 claims to have a 4 track sequencer...BUT it sequences only it self...so if you press play on 606 it's normal NOT to see anything recorded in ableton(midi). You can always record the midi notes when you hit them in Ableton but unfortunately not the patterns...
One of the main reasons I sold 606 and to be honest the only reason was that this little beast could be a tiny mv8000 but IMO although it had the power Roland didn't support it well...
So ,the only workaround is to record the patterns realtime in ableton and edit them there(much easier)...then you can always play them in Ableton and record them in 606...

I don't think so...why not be able to keep sync?
EDIT: When I say realtime ,I mean record the hits on the pads via midi...

I hear ya, basically I just use the 606 when my sounds are already fried and I dump them in to be played and recorded.
606 has a few minors touches above the MV, like the 606 can process two MFX's at the same time, the MV however limits only one MFX and the other two effects chained are reverb and echo. 606 can sample off the internet too.
Re: sp 606 and ableton live
hi
i'm the 606 owner.
all you guys are talking about integration/connection of sp 606 with ableton.
are there any advantages of this connection (using it as sound card) as just direct recording of main output as one track, bpm sync and using it as midi keybord/controller?
can i record separate tracks to ableton. e.g. all are playing together and kick is recording into track1, snare - track2, etc.?
and are there any possibilities to make easier uploading samples to 606 than just copying em to card?
