Just bought a Mopho.

Got it used at guitar center and they lost the AC adapter. Got it for a good price, too. Supposed to have really phat bass tones and all analog circuitry. I'll post up some audio samples when the adapter comes in.

There's a software editor for this unit that will I think run you $40, but it will make your life soooooo much easier to shape the sounds just how you like them. Do a Google search and you should be able to locate it.

Don't forget, if you hook this up to the Mopho keyboard, you get 2 note polyphony! I know that doesn't sound like much, but Dave Smith was kind of wise to increase polyphony with the Tetra/Mopho with the keyboard. Enjoy it though!

Still waiting for the AC adapter. I am confused, though. If you own a Mopho and registered, don't you get software with the unit? And secondly, how do you update the OS or input the sounds if there is usb or memory?

From what I heard on Gearslutz.com, the software didn't come with the unit. A 3rd party software company got hired to do the editor. I'd just check the Dave Smith website, and they should be able to help you updating the OS and swap patches, but relax, I don't think you're required to shell out $800 for the keyboard to do so.

I'll check it out. I have a Pro One, so when I get the ac adapter, I will compare the sound of the two. Im not sure, but i think there is a way to update OS with MIDI connection. Pretty weird.

Yeah, more than likely you'll be doing it over a midi cable.

there is a free software editor and then there is one that you can pay for that has extra features. it interfaces with your computer through midi. so when you want to update it you send sysex files over midi.

The person I play music with in a band just got one of these and it is pretty sweet, although she is having a really tough time with the free editor (buggy/glitchy) and is about to shell out the 40 bucks for the better one. I've been messing around on it with an old school yamaha keytar hooked up to it via midi and there's definitely some potential for awesomeness in this thing. Gonna take some time to discover all its secrets though, for sure.

I was thinking about getting a mopho or a shruthi1 and controlling it from my iPad. At the same time I also consider getting a microkorg or a ziosynth for about the same price. The big selling point on the mopho is the size. For those that have used the mopho what is the sound comparable to? I've watched YouTube vids but I'd like some actual feedback from peeps here. Would it be worth it to just stick with a virtual analog synth?

i had the mopho then the DSI evolver, I like the mopho more but it never *quite* clicked for me....I think it was the filter, I felt like I couldn't get enough drive out of it...I mean I know it's not a 303, I just didn't know much about it going in.....I had trouble editing too but I was a complete noob at the time.

Got some great fat 80s analog bass tones, some great feedback loops...good luck, I'm considering getting the keyboard version because I miss the sound in a lot of ways.
