weird, interesting idea as a children show, but I kind of wish they didn't encourage the youth that wearing gold is cool.

I've watched all the episodes, and I don't believe that is what the creators are trying to insinuate. They have a character with a big gold chain, and that just represents an archetype of a person you'll see in many neighborhoods from the UK to US. If you watched the theme you'll see that gold chain character is hanging with the plumber/workman. That's why this show caught my eye (and ear) so much- it is about as real as you can get for a kids show- in fact it was controversial in certain circles in the UK for the fact the characters speak with a patois- but guess what- if you ever lived in a neighborhood with a sizable Caribbean community- - people speak with patois!
Also- I tend to agree with you- I'm not a jewelry guy, but in real life if someone wants to wear gold- that's their prerogative- just like if someone wants to wear a T-shirt with a giant Nike symbol on it- it's just fashion.
Walk through any city in the world and you'll spot 'gold chain guys' for sure-
