First- Love & Blessings to all the good people that were hit by the tsunami/earthquake- both those that survived, and those that passed. It's always more than tragic & heartbreaking to see good people leave before their time- and in such a horrible way. I have a few really good friends from the past living in Japan & Hawaii- When you put faces you know to those that might have died, or the huge ammount seriously injured;trapped under rubble, etc, along with all the "anonymous"- it's a painful & scary thing to say the least.

Haven't been on here or online really at all the last week, been handling some stuff, & still getting situated in the new spot. Started this last night- again, nothing amazing..but it's my first beat combining the 404, sampletrak, and dr. 202. I was mainly focused on finding a good workflow with the 3 machines together. Give a listen if you got a minute- I usually don't make a point to ask for feed- but since this is a kinda new setup for me, I'd be interested to see how some of you think it sounds....thanks,peace

Appreciate the words yall. Yea Endor- it's been almost 5 years now since I met her, and my birthmother,it's crazy to meet people you share actual blood and some resembelance to for the first time at 29 years old. She is mad talented- when we met she was 19 and doing dance music- she's come a long way with her singing & songwriting. Wouldn't be surprised in the least if she gets an actual shot in the next few years.

Btw, this dr. 202 is SO dope, I had no idea. Gonna make a big improvement to my overall sound-imo, now I think they're much more worth having than the sp-202. Next I'm gonna figure out how to use the sequencer/efx on it via midi, controlling the 404 & st... 8)

Hey thanks a lot for the feed yall..I've been sitting on this record for like 2 years and for some reason never flipped any of it. This was just a rough version really, the final will have a change up or 2 and some more variations w/ the drum mutes/hits

@ ella- yea man I just got it about a week and a half ago-it was an accident really, thought I was getting the sp 202-but this thing is really dope, I love all the bass tones you can get out of it,which is the main thing I'll be using it for (damn it would be nice if the 404 could record external equip. while laying a sequence) plus it's got some nice kicks that are good for layering & some good tamborine type sounds- I probably won't fuck with the snares ,hats, or crashes, though they're not too bad I guess. & I'm always down for a colab..thanks.

@ Niq- thanks-actually though that's just a high pass filter that's on my br-900- "high cymbal filter"..has somewhat of a wah quality to it though. As far as the "long time coming",lol- I've really dug everything I've heard from you- but you hardly ever post anything! Probably why I haven't posted on one of your threads, I miss a lot of shit in the music section sometimes.

locotes- I appreciate the high praise man :)

Kel- we should get up sometime, I'm in Beacon Hill now, about 5 min. from downtown/cap hill.Plus I need a connect on the marine green,lol- I've yet to get a hold of the famous seattle herbals I've heard so much about. Shit, I need to try to get on medical for my back....

Peace.......

..

curious your accident about the sp202...dr202 and the sp202 were built together to work in a bunch (dr202 seq sp202 basically), so they got exactly the same look and they seem quite the same machine; but as you say this dr202 got some cool bass tones (some taken directly from the tb303 engine i think); for the snares i use to work them with the internal pitch, sometimes it works cool.
for the collaboration: thanx man, i hope to pass this busy period well (say 1 month) and after we can built some thangz :)

wow, for real I didn't think this beat was that dope at all,lol..I was really just trying to find the best way to work w/ the 3 machines together, as well as getting a good swing on the drums (I combined the empty space technique I use with the sp with the swing function on the st,and dumped the 8 bar drum sequences back into the 404's sequencer)-I was less focused on the beat itself. I mean I knew the sample was pretty dope- I'ma have to go back and do a more serious flip on this-not to mention i noticed the next day that the tone knob on my turntable was turned all the way down(i think one of my kids was mad at me that day and tried to play a little trick on me,lol)- probably why it sounds more muddy than it should & the highs are really low in the sample. But thanks so much for the all the feed-really encouraging. Peace
