That giant bell at the beginning of Hells Bells by AC/DC might have been the one.

I remember searching forever for a song called "Riding High". It wasn't until EPMD flipped it on "please listen to my demo". That I found out it was a group called FAZE-O'. I remember this song from my childhood. I knew I was destined to make beats & remixes. It gets blurry after that...lol

Hahahaha I remember that the first sample based beat I made was using the sample from a PC Game called "Mafia:The City of Lost Heaven".

I even found it somewhere in my GMail "sent" folder :D

Hahahah When Im listening to it right now It seems so funny :D All those reloading and shooting sounds... soooo gangsta :P
A lot of other samples from hip hop songs were used also. Of course made with FL :)

Take a listen!

When I was like 12 I had been learning to make beats on Logic express 7, composing em, and my brother told me about these "MPCs" that could sample any thing you plugged it into, and this was a completely new thing to me, and I was like "Even a TV???", he was like "Even a TV" and I thought it was amazing lol.

When he said people like Wu Tang cut up records to make their beats with their MPCs, I didn't realize he meant old soul/rock/jazz records. So I took the intro from Rakim - In The Ghetto, and manually cut and pasted it for like 64 bars, and took the drum beat from Doc Brown - Look Back and made a beat which sounded like this "G-ghet-ghe-g-ghet-gh-ghet-a-to" over and over again lol.

That would be certain parts of 'white trash beautiful' from Everlast.. but reversed. Really, I had no clue what to sample when I first started out, I just tried. Lots of trial and error happening here on just about every album I have.

1st "sample"...
I was like really young my mom'd play a lot of soul and R&B stuff. (in the car, house, etc) I remember everytime she'd play Isaac Hayes's version of Walk on By, I'd always want to hear the beginning over and over again.

lol too bad my mom listens to new "rap" music now :(

When i first started sampling i remember sampling these Bill Brown sountrack samples from some random website. It was like the music for sinbad and all them fantasy orchestral soundtracks with really hard stabs and fat man opera solos. I pieced together a bunch of shit from those.

We should do a beatles flip contest! Instead of everyone getting the same sample, get everyone to choose a diff beatles track or somethin
