Grabbed one today to put in my fx chain...
Here're my thoughts:
Pros:
- classic filter sound
- audio input
- LFO top speed
Cons:
- knobs are very small so precise changes are hard
- LFO is only a down-ramp shape.. was expecting triangle/sine
- pitch pot could've been switched for a 3-way (or 4) octave switcher
Conclusion:
I'm gonna mod it.
It also makes you wonder - why cant they make a 2xosc, 2x env, LFO, LPF semi modular synth for less than $400? people would go crazy and they'd still make a killing.

Re: Monotron - my thoughts...
I haven't messed with a Monotron nor do I know much about the technical aspect of these fx generators but modding it sounds like a cool idea. I could see how the little knobs would get annoying, just gotta make little baby adjustments I guess haha.
Let us know what you get out of it

Yeah, MFB stuff is cool, but price is a little higher for the synth 2 or semi modular synth boxes.. nanozwerg is so close but only has 1 osc + the sub oscillator

You can't buy a Synth II anymore anyways, they stopped making them
