lol yea Dilla must just spin continuously in his grave b/c his name and sound has been dickriden, bitten, incorrectly imitated and in general just watered down...with all the bullshit some kid starting to get into hip hop will see some shit like this and think it's what Dilla sounded like

I know this is pedantic, but 'inspired by' doesn't always mean 'sounds like'.

However the ever increasing number of folks claiming Dilla as an inspiration and the forefather of instrumental hip hop is clearly bandwagon jumping bullshit.

Even some journalist for Waxpoetics made the claim that Dilla made it possible for a producer to step up & be seen as an individual musician. You'd think they'd have heard of DJ Shadow, Mantronix OR Afrika Bambaataa. Apparently not.

I'm assuming they mean the chops...but I agree with Bridge, as soon as I heard it I thought about Kanye. I felt like it was 2003 again. The video was kind of pretty tho

wow I hadn't read the review  dude it's a 2 min beat with some decent chops and progression...I don't think it's a "slice of ibuprofen pop"

beat is good tho, can't front on that...it's just absurd to correlate Dilla to that at all, the swing of the beat was totally Kanye as stated

dilla was a big influence but wasnt the only influence .it was actually cats at goodlife droppin instrumental albums in the early 90's on cassettes which made me drop beat tapes. not because a of the dilla tapes around 04 when he moved to l.a. funny the beat tape i copped was from dj nobody was spins at low end theory. it was on some dark breakbeat layered up samples type shit. i think dilla brought that old beat tape feel back w/ those beat cds. i also had that dj shadow album as well. some of these journalist is wet behind the ears, and have no history of the scene how it started who's the o.g's and etc.

journalist is a generous term for some of these talkin head clowns...anyone with a decent website and time on their hands to build and promote it can be a "journalist"
