Maybe stryka is just saying that anyone could make better music. Which, idk, his music was ok. It just wasn't exceptional IMO.
But I just want to attack one idea. What's wrong with being a functioning member of society? It takes much more restraint and intelligence to work within a system. Now if you take banksy and try validate this point, the shallow thinker will say that I've proved myself wrong. And that's fine with me. However, in the big picture, banksy has identified and broken down societal norms and created a niche or a global theater if you will. He has thoroughly taken advantage of the system while methodically and deliberately ignoring the rules that don't suit him. Brilliance really.
Now I don't want get into poor me but my upbringing was no walk in the park. Divorces, custody battles, abuse, death, run-ins with the law, etc, etc... had riddled the the first twenty years of my life. I did suffer depression and poverty. But I refused to let statistics and professionals determine how I would end up. One thing I learned is nobody cares where you've been unless it's tragic (and ends that way). People only care where you're going.
And as far as people with mental illnesses (or any illness for that matter); I would hope it would be obvious that the vast majority of People on this planet do care. Dj was selfish bc he put HIS art before everyone elses basic feelings. They did care for him and sacrificed for him and he continued to allow it.
Now I will try and watch some other docs.

In order for me personally to give the slightest fuck about being a "functional member of society"- our society itself would have to be a truly functional one.If it's not painfully obvious to you that it's anything but-you're lost. That's not an opinion,not a point of view, or even an ideal-point blank fact. Fuck this "society"- to me the only people that matter are those whose primary function is to turn it upside down.And comparing banksy to daniel johnston is like comparing will smith to muhammed ali.

co-sign with 'what's wrong with being a functioning member of society'...the 'disturbed, tortured' artist cliche is so prevalent that nowadays it's a case the horse following the cart...people feels as though it's a requirement to be tortured in order to be an artist which is bullshit.

Yea man, I wrote that, just part of a song I've yet to record. And I appreciate the words man, for real.I might be getting Goretex on it too- the only ex member of Non Phixion I like- got kicked out the group a couple years ago. I'm tired of motherfuckers like immortal tech and ill bill promoting/selling this ignorant, completely unrealistic idea of a violent revolution in America. And cats like ill bill w all the conspiracy theory bullshit just adds to peoples paranoia.Makes one wonder if they could be the ones working for the government. I.T. has never made public what he went to prison for-or why he got out early.Anyway,yea, thanks man.

ok this is gonna sound however it's gonna sound i have no idea how this is typically done, i.e. might be committing some undaground hip hop taboo i'm unaware of, forgive the ignorance, but here goes: i fucking love the whole concept behind this song...i gotta hit you with a verse and just see what you think. i'd consider it a fucking honor no joke. if you check it and think it's whack, so be it, no hard feelings whatev, but who knows if you think it's fire...i honestly believe i could contribute some dope lines, truly. now, i'm fucking 'nobody' in the most literal sense of the word, and you don't know me from a large hole in the ground, but ever since i read that verse i've been hooked on that shit and the whole idea of a song addressing this issue and calling out hypocrites (rage against the machine ill bill immortal et al) , and i would love to try to contribute. not looking for any type of recognition, not tryin to ride coattails, i know you've paid dues and are talented, just would love to write a verse and who knows...could i write something and email you or some shit?

you're an outspoken dude, so i know you'll speak your mind, but just fyi if you're not down with this idea at all for whatever reason, don't care to read what i come up with no worries, no explanation necessary..would love the opportunity to throw something at you and see what you think.
