Just how portable is it?

New here folks so apologies if this is posted in the wrong section.

I've been offered a 404 for a bargain price, and I'm thinking of copping it. Always been an MPC/ASR10 boy but I figured it would be cool to have a sampler that I can just take anywhere with me, I travel all around the country for work so there's a lot of lonely nights in budget hotel rooms when I'd rather be banging out tunes instead of watching TV, and taking my MP or a keyboard along just isn't an option. Never worked with an SP, never even seen a 404 in the flesh, is it something I can just keep at the bottom of my backpack with my change of clothes? Thing is as far as I know they're real well built, so I'm thinking it could be heavy. Any help would be appreciated.

not heavy at all. fairly light , yet enough weight to make it fell sturdy.

I take mine with me everywhere, and the fact that its battery powered helps alot.

I bought a 404 for that very reason. I sold t shirts all over the country for 3 months for the presidential election; I was living in red roof in's and a van, and did not want to take my sp303 or mpc1k. I could not be happier with the 404. I did replace the knobs with low profile knobs that i got at radio shack so I would not tear the knobs off of the beast taking it in and out of my backpack. It is built very sturdy. Feels like a tank if you have batteries in it. The 404 also comes with a power adaptor. I say two thumbs up.

Guess I'm going to be buying an SP then. Spent a while watching some related youtube videos and I do like the look of this thing a lot, in any case it's never a bad thing to have yet another sampling machine. I'll post my thoughts when I've used it a bit.
