So to me, the funnest and quickest part of beat making is when you first create that dope loop/pattern etc. The part that takes the longest and is possibly the most boring to me is probably adding all the subtle variation/one shot samples etc.

with that said lately ive just been creating cool 4 bar patterns and then looping them for how ever many bars i feel right. made like 5 beats yesterday with this approach. :D made me feel accomplished.

When comparing my "quick" beats to ones that took much longer to create i feel like the difference in quality is minimal. While the quicker beats might seem less inspired the overall feeling is still there.

These are some random thoughts but anyway.

I want to see what everyone prefers.

Banging out quick beats and getting your ideas out fast.

or

Nurturing a small pattern into something complex ?

or both?

I just work with the time I got. Sometimes u got magic in like 10 minutes sometimes it takes days. Music is a curious thing and you gotta let it run its course naturally.

Well, to me, the fun is pretty much from starting to sample until you got your main idea out (the final or best sounding loops), then trying to find what you can add later might be a little boring, but it's usually worth it.

I've been jamming for quite a long time on a SP and KP3 with various artist but never got into recording a song along execpt yesterday, and I can say I'm pretty happy with the whole exercise.

My songs take soooo long. Mainly because I stay busy with school, but I also like to experiment with lots of different samples, synth parts, guitar licks, etc. I'm always trying to create the perfect fell and mood. But this is just me.

I usually spend a week gathering sounds, then I make like 10 beats in two days.

I find if I get bogged down at all I get *really* bogged down, like I just cannot agree with a kickdrum sound or something, and it creates a huge mental block..

I have to try and just roll with things quickly, but I'm not very good at that... practice practice
