Hi all,

I bought a sp-505 but I can not transfer midi from sp-505 to mc-505.

Could you kindly explain how to do it? I tried with manual but no success...
Do I have to use mc-505 as slave? I really have no idea.
I tried midi out from sp-505 to midi in mc-505 but it did not work?
I would appreciated your help step by step with cablage and if I have to modify settings in both machines.

Thank you

Artex

hi
sending midi signals on the sp505 is really complex (and almost horrible).
midi clock is ok, but not midi notes.
it's better to do sp as slave and mc as master.

to put sp505 on slave is real simple: go to system (sytem button) and there you can put 505 on "midi", so you can send midi clock by the mc505 to your sp505: they willbe in sync.
for the second question, if i understood well, i didn't knew that the mc505 could load samples...i think this is not possible...

Ella you are right. The MC505 and SP505 both have a smartmedia card slot. The MC505 can only use SmartMedia cards to save the sequence/pattern data for that machine. It CAN NOT load samples. I have the MC307 (which is similar to MC505 but a bit newer) and I use that as a Midi Master for my SP404. It works great :)

yes, the 307 is cool.
the only Mcs wich allow you to load samples are the mc09, mc808 and the mc909 i think...

Thank you all guys for your help,

What would be the solution to use the samples from sp505 and load it to mc505?

Are the cards compatible?
Or perhaps with a pc?

What kind of cable do I need to buy to use sp505 samples into my pc?

Could you help me with this matter?

Thank you again

for the mc505 sample question: as we said before this machine doesn't load any sample...so the only way you could play between sp505/mc505 is via midi: you put the mc505 as a master and play notes (samples) to the sp505; in other word you could use the sp505 played by the mc505 as a sound module...
for the sp505 samples question: unfortunately you can't use sp505 into your pc, 'cause sp505 samples are not saved in .wav format and there is no way to convert them...you can just load samples (only wav or aiff) from the pc to sp505 via smartmedia card (and a card reader)...

You can get around that problem by adding a sp303/404/606 to your setup. Probably you'd just have the extra sampler sample the 505s(mc/sp), and then you'd have a .wav/aiff file ready to upload to your computer.

Can't promise it would work that way, but I have a hunch it's worth trying...

Hi,

Thank you for your help.

Is it possible to find a card support for the SP505 to connect to my pc?
and for the mc505?

If yes I will buy the necessary material for my pc, I guess a standard sound card is ennough? am I right?

Thanx again
