Battle #8 3..."Van Music"

Post by a.D. »

Alright..finally-I meant to have this up by Friday night so people could work over the weekend..couldn't get to it till tonight. Just make the deadline a week from monday(tomorrow) morning so we can have all next weekend. The sample is from Van Morrison- it's a joint from the mid 70's, i think-but I'm not positive...and don't even know the title- sometimes I record music into my sp from the music stations on my cable(tv) and this is one of them-didn't write dwon the song info or anything. I think I even missed the intro of the song-but theres mad shit to work with. I thought this would be a good choice-a mix of soul, gospel, and rock at a perfect tempo for chopping. The first drum loop this time around even has some bass notes over some of the kicks, so feel free to use them. I refuse to divulge my sources though,lol......Looking forward to seeing what everyone does with this. Peace

Alright..thats enough. You know how there used to be the "jordan rules" in the nba-where teams would play a special defense against mike?We need to set up some Teewok rules. You can't just be making bangers like this an hour and a half after the samples are posted. Tee needs to have at least a 48 hour waiting period. but for real- this shit is mad ill, don't know how you put together something so complex this quickly-but mad respect, I love it.. Damn,lol...

hahahah the Teewok rule that's too much. I appreciate the good words and the dope sample. It's one of those songs where the sounds are so distinguished and you know exactly where to chop rite when u listen.

I may have to try my hand at this. This would be my first battle. Am I allowed to use the SP-555? I tried reading the rules but didnt see that as a restriction.

So I came up with a basic idea which I liked, but I spent a while trying to sequence it with drums+bassline and just couldn't get it right, maybe I can blame the 404 sequencer. Maybe I just need more practice!

Here was the basic idea anyway, no need to put it in the poll:

Sample was dope btw.
