"LoFi Emporium" is a 16min mini-beat tape containing a collection of beats all made on the SP1200 over the last couple of months. It's basically a little document of the love affair I've been having with this machine since I got it... I decided to keep it as one long track rather then split it up so as to keep a nice overall flow to it.

So yeah, all beats 100% made on the sp, apart from sample chopping done on the mpc and a bassline added over the 1st beat.. All the interludes between tracks have been taken from various LPs in my collection. Artwork done by myself, photo's for the cover shot by Monster Monster.

FREE downloadable release:

Hope you like!

Hey man can you switch the soundcloud one to be downloadable? Rapidshare sucks these days if you're not premium

Anytime you come across an sp-1200 producer, you gotta assume they got some nice shit-and this is no exception.Didn't have time for the entire listen-but what I heard was just my type of stuff...dope tape. We can get pretty much the same lo-fi sound with the roland s.p.'s-but we're really missing that swing- people underestimate how important that shit is. Anyway...respect..peace

Have you done lost yo mothafuckin mind?

I know what you mean A.D. but there aint no way in the hell the sound can be equated...
The 404 has its charm, and I love the shit to death... but it aint no sp1200... not even close.

That said... beats were ill as shit, Surly... been diggin your shit for a minute... cool to see you experimenting with other gear... proving once again, it's got nothing to do with the machine... but a helluva lot more to do with the person programming it.

Keep going, man

A.D... all love, don't take it any other way.

Of course nothing can duplicate an sp1200-maybe I shouldn't have said "pretty much the same" but you can get a sound very remeniscent of it with the right settings w/ lo fi mfx, and from what I'm told, can get pretty damn close with the 202-which I'll be finding out for myself soon.As an example,Kev Brown rocks the 505 for lo-fi(then loads shit into his mpc) and a lot of his joints def sound "sp1200-ish".A lot of experienced beatmakers can tell a difference-your average listener-probably not.Not even your average producer nowadays. But when it comes down to it, we should be making music mainly for the average listener, not just eachother. I hear you though..and yes, I lost my mind a long time ago, I reccomend it to anyone, lol. But lets not jack the mans thread....again-dope tape-I'm gonna check the rest tomorow.peace.

cartesia - I've made it downloadable from the souncloud player now, not sure about the mp3 quality though...the rapidshare link is 320kbps.

Thanks alot for listening everybody, it's a pretty quick mix of some rough beats.. I'm still getting my head around the limitations of this beast. I just can't get enough of the sound it has!
