Flip cameras?

Post by Dj_just_jeff »

Do any of you know anything about these flip cameras? I have been looking into one mostly making youtube vids, taking it with me on diggs and whatever else i want. I have been using my mac's onboard camera to record vids for the past 4 years and it is hard to prop the computer up and point it at what i am doing. Any thoughts. I don't need a ton of recording time I would like an hour but not a ton more than that, you can switch out cards right? Well thanks in advance.

i have the kodak Zi8, and have no complaints. HD vid, external mic jack, 1080p recording. the zoom sucks, but otherwise it is great. you can also snag cellphone camera lenses (like wide-angle, fisheye) to give you more variety.

i use my zoom H2 as the mic for it sometimes. pretty cool.

depending on how you want to use it the gopro cameras might be worth looking into. you can use them plugged in like a live feed... HD waterproof small and come with a grip of different mounts. i just got the 960 and like it a lot. the still camera is dope too..

i also have a zi8. i really like it. shoots really nice video, and you can connect a minijack from your music setup(like your sp) and record. so if you are doing a music related video you can get it with good sound quality =)

i have a demovideo for you:

I know the Flip cams are cool, but for the same amount of cash you can get the Sanyo VPC-GH4 HD-1080p. Its a small camcorder and the visuals are awesome, makes shiny things sparkle and the color looks like the type you'll see on blockbuster movies. I can pretty much confirm the visuals appear to look like those from the Transformers movies.

wifey grabbed a Flip for XMas mostly for vids of the lil one and sharing them...but I was amazed at how good it was and plan to immediately start using it for vids in the lab and whatnot. really high quality crisp video and decent sound imo
