Fuck Guitar Center!!!

So I go into a guitar center today for the first time in my life..walk around a little- and see a pristine 202/dr . sample..FOR 50 BUCKS!! I get mad excited, since I've seen so many of you praise it for it's grittiness and filters, and of course for 50 bucks I was like I'm picking this up NOW. So I tell an employee i want it, and he says they have to look it up on their computer to make sure it's been checked out w/ the police to make sure it's not stolen--since it's used. I assumed this was just a routine procedure to double check..and i'm mad excited at this point, looking forward to getting home and seeing how it sounds,and letting yall know how i got this mint 202 for 50 bones,lol. The guy comes back and tells me he CANT SELL IT TO ME because apparently it hasn't been cleared for sale yet. I'm like "why is it on the shelf then"?lol...he tells me i can give him my info and they'll call me when it's been cleared. I'm pretty pissed by now,but i said that was alright, i guess....then a manager tells me I have to put money down,put it on LAYAWAY for them to save it for me. WTFWTFWTFWTF??!! THEN, he tells me it's their policy to keep all used items "on display" for 30 days before they can sell it...WTFWTFWTFWTFWTF???!!! If thats the case, shouldn't they just have it stored in the back till that 30 days is up? And you're gonna tell me they don't know if they have stolen property on display in their store??!! Shit doesn't add up..makes me think one of the employees want it or some shit, just doesn't make any sense. I'm gonna call tomorrow to talk to a real manager and see what's up..cause at that point i was like "fuck this i aint giving you shit"....I was excited to get the 202, but all those hoops i'd have to jump through kind of ruined my excitement, plus i just didn't wanna give these doucherags a cent of my money. WTF.

lol...not my style.Although it does bring to mind someday turning on the news to see that some strugling musician somewhere snapped and went on a shooting rampage...killing and injuring a dozen or so condescending shithead Guitar Center "expert" salesmen. Maybe I could put on a disguise and jet out the door with it like I did with clothes when I was a kid. But I think I'll stick to talking to a weekday manager tomorrow,raise some hell..& end up copping it anyway...

now would u say fuck guitar center since u was in the store face to face w/ managers and workers and all then coming on the forum slandering this corporation. if it wasnt for many g.c. many of ur favorite producers would not have a drum machine j/k man being silly man. on the real tho im sure youll get that 202. i would definitely put that desposit on it or someone else who has more more patience will. those not easy to find especially for 50

but yea, I'm hoping to get it along with an apology and a little store credit..obviously something shady was going on-or someone made a huge mistake-it is completely impossible for their "policy" to be having potentially stolen goods on their shelves.The weekend "manager"-or at least the guy that said he was the manager obviously wasn't an official one. Can't wait til you get your 202 tape finished.. I've been trying to wrap mine up since the end of last month but I can only record on weekends after my boy is done work hella late at night. It's getting done but not as quickly as I'd hoped.

I'm pretty much recording all my loops from my 202 to FL and arranging it in there. Nothing else will be done in FL other than arranging.

sounds good. when i use the 202 i pretty much record all my loops into reaper then play the drums over that. when i move back to my own place i will join you lot with a 202 tape (aslong as they aint really good haha).

maybe its just me but if my shit was stolen and ended up in a guitar center and sat long enough for me to find it i would be stoked. it IS a little weird but not all that weird. pawn shops have a similar policy and the gear GC bought was used so its SORT of understandable. i do see where you are coming from. the piece was only $50 bucks and you really wanted it why not just put the down payment on it (and asked before if the deposit was refundable)? i donno maybe its the fact that i work in retail and deal with customers every day for a living and i can see the big picture... you wanted an item and there was a snag, they said hold up we cant sell it today, you said you wanted it though, they gave you an option to insure that you would get it (down payment taking it off the floor), and you got mad/refused... if the 30 day thing is their policy then i will be surprised if you get a store credit but im sure they will be extra nice and take care of you.

guitar center does kind of suck though i wont lie. their people seem so spotty i cant believe any of them are on commission because it seems so hard to find anyone who really wants to sell you something. i had a good sales guy when i bought my first 404 and since then for various cables and cable questions and even having to chase someone down "hey! will you sell me this $500 keyboard, please?"... there is a sam ash around the corner from GC and i am on a first name basis with a dood in there and i like the vibe in that store a LOT more but they dont have the selection anymore like gc does.

Yea I hear you--but I guess what I don't understand is why if something is on the floor at all if it's unsellable. If they have some kind of 30 day policy before they can sell used stuff-it should obviously be kept in the back till it's ready to be sold-if not it needs to have a sticker or something on it saying when it'll be available. Main reason I got mad though is 'cause I was told 2 different things-one guy said they'd just take my information and call me..another guy said I had to give them money, which I thought was ridiculous. I talked to a manager today though-a real one- and he explained things much more clearly,and actually said whoever put it on the floor made a mistake. So I got it on layaway now-plus I'm getting a couple free cabels i need that I was gonna get yesterday as well..........

as far as the tape thing- yea, I thought making a tape with only the 202 would be ideal for a loop project..recording into my 8 track. I'm still not exactly sure of all the 202's cappabilities yet though, so we'll see.You can't even lay a sample over drums at all on this thing? I'm really just mad excited to hear this infamous 202 crunch everybody talks about..and checking out the filters.:)I'm also getting a sampletrak soon and going on a 3-400$ dig - that's when I'm gonna get real serious with my new material....can't wait.

mpc 2000 last week and gone today at one location. (thats the good pawn shop i check out regularly)

this shop RIGHT up the street had an MV8000 not the 8800 for 8000 bucks (no audio or mouse/video expansion) and sat on it but its gone now.

another shop i walked into was checking out a mpc1000 (blue... i was skeptical) and dood behind the counter holds up a guitar and says "ill sell this right now for $20 tax included right NOW" that shop had the blue 1000 for like $500 and a zoom streetbox that retailed for 199 or something for 150... im about to give up on the pawnshop digs. they seem so over priced here.

An 8000 for $8000 that's just comedy. I woulda showed him street price then offered $400 cash.

That reminds me of the SP1200 sellin in the local gear shop here. They wanted like 2grand for it.... guess what? Somebody paid the money for it too.
