My momma wants me to put her vinyl onto a ipod/mp3 player
can anyone tell me what I could download or buy so I can just plug the turntable to the back of the computer and record- I assume once its on the computer you can put it into an ipod or mp3 player

thats my problem man. I never used that shit. I just record from my sampler to a Philips CD recorder- then I put that CD into my comp and rip it. I dont wanna do all that shit for whole albums.
Do I gotta buy mad external computer shit or could i just plug it into the back and record it onto software?
All computers have an audio line in which is usually highlighted with a green cirlce, but a lot of computers don't have very good soundcards unless the computer was made for audio production. But you could try to plug a y-adatpter from your turntable to the computer line in and record the signal with audactiy. Or but a numark ttx-usb.

I think I see what your saying about the sound card. The sound quality aint so great but it will do.
I used audacity to record my battle #7, it was a lot easier than expected
if you're not using a mac, and you want the audio to be decent, i suggest picking up an external audio interface. it's basically a soundcard in a box, with different ins and such. i'm using a tascam us-122, which is about the cheapest solution you'll find. i saw one at a pawn shop for like 80 bucks. tell momma if she wants her tunes to sound decent she'd better pony up the dough. =)

I highly suggest You to obtain any preamp with RIAA correction for exporting Your shit from wax to computer or sampler or whatever. Audacity is free for download and non commercial use.
I'm not too familiar with the 404 method, but I *think* you 'export' to the CF card, then use one of those little card-reader doodads to put the file on your PC..
