Problem trying to pitch an internal string sound

Just got this 505, looked at all the Olby videos. Maybe I'm missing something. When I press Execute to pitch the sample on bank 4, pad 11(low string) across all the pads, I get the "Error! Memory Full" err msg. What am I doing wrong?

2 tips:
is the sample a stereo one?
have you check the card?

1. Not sure. It's one of the internal instrument samples so I assumed it was mono.
2. Not yet. Why?

1.this is strange...i can do it on mine...
2.sometimes the smartmedia card give problems like this, so you have to reformat it etc...but if it an internal sample, then i don't know how to help you, sorry...maybe try to reinitialite the whole system? or try with samples "sampled or imported...

Dang it. Got the thing off ebay for $160.00, maybe there was a reason it was so cheap. Yeah, I don't get either, it was working for Olby.

I'm looking at the 505 now and I'm noticing the top section of the Pitch page. where it says Pad#, Type, Preset 1-2 and Mono. Shouldn't I be able to access that top half of the screen and specify which pad I want pitched? Just hitting the pad dosen't seem to be doing it.

Just tried to do Pitch again, following the manual's instructions exactly. Instead of getting "Processing Data", or "OK to Overwrite?" I get "Error!!! Memory Full". The error message list refers me to page 69(delete unneeded date) or page 49(delete unneeded samples). The manual's instructions do not mention that this might happen. I don't get it. Am I supposed to save everything to the mem card? Does a Pitched sample count as sample data or sequencer data? I'm not finding the answer to this.

this is sounding as a memory system error type...
i never had a problem like this on my 50 but i had once some similar problem on my sp606...
i tend to think that the reinitialize solution could be cool, but if i were you i'll wait for another 505 head here...

Looks like it's fixed! I took your advice and reinitialized, Everything appeards to be working. There's an annoying vibrato when the piano notes are pitched, though. Is that just a normal artifact of pitch-stretching?

Duh. Looks like I was just Pitching them an octave too high. I tried again and it sounds better.

cool for you man!

the "vibrato thing" it's normal. you have 3 logarythm for pitching on the 505 (music, hi and low). so it's dipending on what of them you will use to pitch your samples. i use to use the "music" one for everything but sometimes it's useful to try the other 2, dipending on the sample source...
