It´s so strange. I bought this sampler, it was almost brand new and the price was NICE. I really really love the sound of it, and the great effects. I don´t understand why you can´t step backwards in the step sequencer without deleting though??? Is that because of the old OS? I´ve been using my yamaha rs-7000 as a sequencer because the step sequencer in the rs-7000 is great, but you can´t use the swing knob with the sp-808 though.
Anyway, i can only resample a pad to another pad with a delay effect, no other effects are working and i´m getting really mad. I´m doing exactly as the manual tells me, but when i don´t do that it still works with just the delay effect (like the one the dude from roland is using in that youtube video).
So what am i doing wrong? This sampler feels like a Mac program, it´s really easy and smart, but sometimes when you want to do something that´s logical to you it´s very much NOT a logical procedure to do what you want.
I have to know this because if i want to make a 16 bar drum track with the hi-hats and kick/snare and so on, in one pad i need to be able to thin the hi-hat out or just be able to change the drum samples.
Thank you so much if you answer me!

Aaa okey, sorry i thought the whole page were fair ground for the sp-808.
It´s the sp-808 i´m wondering about.

Haven't used the SP808, but the SP606 has the same issue. The 606 workaround on resampling with atmospheric effects (delay, reverb) is to record another pad with several seconds of silence (make sure it goes for longer than what you plan to resample).
When you resample with the effect, select the source sample and the silence & record. The SP will keep recording until it reaches the end of the silent pad's recording or until you tell it to stop. Switch off all effects & listen back to the freshly resampled sound.
Did that work?

OK, so if your sampling from pad-to-pad on an SP808 try this.
1. Press SAMPLING button once.
2. Scroll down to Fx Loc. and make sure it says INS MASTER
3. Now exit this screen and select your effects. Play your sample and tweak the fx until your happy with the sound.
4. Press SAMPLING again, scroll down and change the Fx Loc to INS RECORD. You can also change the Start/W to PAD so it will start sampling as soon as you hit your pad.
5. Press SAMPLING again. The 808 is now waiting for a signal. Press your pad to start recording the effected sample.
Oh, and of course make sure the EFFECTS button is lit!
Hope this helps.
