quick question.

how do you use the MIDI in function? want to trigger the start stop with my HD recorder. should send midi start stop. is it supposed to do it by it self?

"midi in" port recognize start/stop and midiclock events from an external device which sends midi events - and so it start/stop/play the pattern of program.

"midi out" port sends notes and midiclock (BPM) for the playing sequence.

so its supposed to recognize the midi in signals automatically?

I guess there is an issue with my recorder. I can't make it talk to anything. fuck.

it supposedly sends both MTC and Midi clock messages, but Ive tried both, nothing seems to work. or is there some particular setting that I need to set in order to make it work? Im a total noob at using Midi, so I might be missing something essential.

your external device have to send first midi start event. then the bpm-display of my program should switch from color red to blue. and check the correct input ports please.

ok.

Im using the midisport uno interface. and my recorder is set to MTC with 30nd frame rate. I can see that the midisport is receiving the clock, but it won't start the sequence in the software. so strange.

please check with midi-ox or any program with an midi-in monitor, what your external device sends out...

$FA is midi start
$FC is midi stop
$F8 is midi clock

first you have to receive a midi start....

it seems, that your machine is not sending Midiclock. Maybe MTC?

I have correct the main thread, EPSE supports Midiclock only, not MTC.. That is a difference! So please setup your device direct to midiclock.

Which device are you using? SP-404 or SX. In my SP-404 manual, The Midi implementation contains only Midiclock...

ok there is a description here:
http://www.compeng.dit.ie/staff/tscarff ... di/MTC.htm

The Full Frame is a SysEx message that encodes the entire SMPTE time in one message as so (in hex):

F0 7F cc 01 01 hr mn sc fr F7

so its full frame mtc and not midiclock. sorry, only midiclock is supported.

that sucks. still is a fine piece of software!

feature request, being able to trigger the sequencer with metronome sound. like 4 beeps and GO! great for those of us that doesn't have a midi clock compatible device.
