Here's a couple of house tracks that I've put together recently that aren't tooooo bad

First one: Disco Never Dies

A take on the 'ol disco remix theme, made mostly by chopping up an old disco record and re-arranging it - but with a twist...half way through it leaves off the 'remix' side of things and goes all hardcore rave n shit....

The drums are from the original record, with a 909 kick layered in to add weight. The bassline is off the original, but beefed up through the Master Compressor. All the vox are from the original, chopped, layered and messed with. The hoover leadline is from the MC-505, but filtered through the 606. My girl loves this one - it's for deh laydees!

Second one: A Coupla Drinks

This is just for fun - Trailer Park Boys samples over a straight house beat. The bassline was made using the 606 D-Beam synth, going through the Master Comp, Slicer and some Tape Delay. You can make a bassline just by waving your hand....serious. New owners of the 555 should give it a go

disco never dies - this is a good example of how sampling doesn't have to be confined to NY-style boom bap. you've really cut and re-arranged this one nicely. that bassline almost sounds like some Israeli psytrance!! i really like the snare rolls here, especially how they flare as they intro the next section. the synthlines here are serious, the MC505 hoover definitely sounds nasty. does the 606 have a better filter than the 505? or did you prefer to filter within the 606 to maintain a regular sound?


a coupla drinks - the synth that enters at 0.28 seconds sounds really nice and creepy. some really good melodies here too, especially that bell-like sound. nice filtering at the end too


these tracks definitely illustrate the advantage of the 4 track sequencer the 606 has got. i'd get lost in resampling hell trying to layer this much with the 404 alone.

Thanks man Yeah the 4-track makes it easy to get the basics of a song fleshed out (Beats, bassline, leads) before having to start the bouncing down...mind you, there's still a lot of bouncing to be done before the finished product. I usually make a 'full loop' of the main elements of the track and then start dropping the samples/fx over the top. All the bouncing really helps with getting a cohesive sound, imo.

Oh, and yes, the filters on the 606 are 100x better than the MC-505...the 505 got a whole new lease on life with the SP effects (is there anything they can't do?). I've just finished a harder, techno-style track that has every type of filtering the 606 has, all in one track. Will post soon.

it definitely does. i also find bouncing down forces me to commit to a pattern and finalise it on the spot rather than think "i'll fix that later". i.e. make it then move on, whereas in a DAW i tend to piss around too much

True, still learning the machine though .. In fact, just two days ago I figured out how there are several different types of D-beam synths inside lol.

I probably should dive into the manual more often, but I like discovering as I go.

There's sanitised, understandable Australian and then there's Bogan Speak, the REAL oz accent.

It's like: "howyagarn man scar non?" "yeh notoo baad, fuckall" "ken oath, mate" etc etc.

Imma sample myself so you guys can have a laugh at the way we (a lot us anyway) speak.

I love the australian accent!!! keep on sampling them aussies:) I've been traveling with a guy from perth, great fun! especially because I've learned English in the states:)

the house tracks are cool, love the part where the first one gets darker!!! also like the chilly track from drewzle. the beats are really tight! never heard it before, great stuff...
