Have you ever used Linux before? Are you suggesting that recording interfaces don't work well with Linux? M-audio and Tascam do. How much MONEY do you need to spend to get anything added to OS X? Apple designed their shit to make people pay for additional programs to remove stuff from your Macintosh even...what a sham! There are people building MIDI devices to work exclusively with Linux. I mean, c'mon dude...MIDI and Linux are both pretty damn Geeky. You gotta dig a little to find what works.

No offence to you...but I'll continue to use my PC with Linux...and I'll find a way to make shit work. Just like with my SP...there's a more affordable route. Macintosh? not really...unless you have money to throw around every corner. Here are some links to educate you:

http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=sup ... ords=#tabs

http://www.core-sound.com/pdaudio-cf/1.php

http://tascam.com/applications/home_rec ... interface/

Man, what are you going on about? I am not trying to convince anyone not to use linux, all I am doing is stating why I dont.. do you have a problem with that?

Like I said before.. many audio products do not have drivers for linux.

I'm not gonna go and sell half my gear to buy other gear that I didn't choose before just so I can get stuff that works with linux. and I'm not gonna switch OSs when I have no issues with my current one.

BTW.. I haven't paid apple a cent besides my macbook I bought in 2007..

which at the time was very competitive with the price of same spec laptops from high quality PC manufacturers.. It actually worked out cheaper because apple offers the educational discount

yeah, my cousin does that. But the thing is, you gotta be on top of every windows registry error. And that is a constant battle...the famous "Bluescreen of death".

I'm a big OSX users and mac user.... been one for 15 years now. I've tried linux more times than I can count on many different machines. Power PC and X86 (windows based). Linux IS a pain in the ass to get completely working. And DRIVERS ARE A PAIN. If you have newer hardware chances are things will work fine without any configuration, but when it's all said and done I've never been able to stick with linux for more than a week.

For the record the only machine I've been able to get "fully" working is a Mac Mini intel based.

Also I'm not sure if you all know about the ubuntu geared towards media/audio production. It has most the appz you need already installed.

*disclaimer: I've been a PC tech for more than a decade now fixing windows machines. This is the reason I will NOT own one ;)

My cousin is a PC Tech as well. He is the one who built me this computer. Yes, old Linux Kernal takes a lot of knowledge about computer code and programming...which I'm not going to get into (I'm not moving backwards). But everything is working fine for me with my new Linux Ubuntu OS :).

Too bad you don't like it. I appreciate the feedback on recording software you gave me though.

Funny thing is... all I need my computer to do is record tracks to put up on the web. I don't have all the money required to run a Mac. Also, I don't have the patience or the money to deal with Windows crashing ALL the time. MOST of my beats are done on the SP and MPC anyway. But when it comes to my computer, Ubuntu works better for me. No problems at all :D.

Plus I don't have to worry about viruses as much when I'm online.

hahahaha it's cool man. I'm not mad at anyone. I got my drink and I'm sitting on a comfy couch. Played some really good rounds of Black Ops (despite the glitches) and I'm relaxed. About to watch Dinner for Schmucks with my bro...it's all good.

windows problems are much more intense, but i find linux has more frequent problems... especially when running graphic and audio apps. easier to fix tho :P
