its just a matter of narrowing it down man. start from the least expensive fix and move on from there.

Ive replaced my tonearm a few years ago. It takes a little soldering and a lot of patience. You said you're using a Tech? Those range from like $60-$100 online. I turned my 1200 into a 1210 basically by upgrading the tone arm, I think thats the only difference between the two....hmmm....anyhow, it's a good experience...but hopefully it's not the problem.

the pivoting screws must be loose. Those are a total PAIN to fix. You gotta get a special driver to tighten those. Is this a used turntable or what? lol, cause nobody should ever touch those screws - if that's the case. I can't see how it would be wobbly otherwise.

Hope it works out for ya man. Just know that those turntables are the best, strongest, and are [most importantly] the most FIXABLE!

You check the ground from the turntable to the mixer? Also go thru and change out your RCAs. You might have a bad cable. My cables always seem to go out on me eventhough it doesn't seem like they get much use.

My guess is that it's probably the needle. Do you have a friend that has another cartridge/headshell you can test. Lastly, maybe try bypassing your mixer altogether if you're using one. Also check the actual wires on the speakers/monitors.

ummmmm put the record on a friends turntable? Or take it to a record shop and play on one of theirs that way u isolate it to the turntable?

btw, the music coming from my needle with no speakers on sounds shitty too....

you checked the 4 wires in the headshell? a friend of mine had a broken tech12 that would cut out on one RCA and it would make this super subwoofer bass noise somtimes. We'd just turn it off and let it cool down for a bit until he got it fixed.

I'm just sayin to test on sum other stuff to see wut works and wut doesn't.

same thing happened to me especially when i put on certain records. the way i solved it is by changing rca cable connections on the turntable. in my case it was the one connected to the dj mixer thru my other recorder not the one straight from the turntable.

the best way to find out really...after you have tested the stylus, cartridge, and cartridge wires etc....is to open her up and check the tonearm assembly. Some of the wires might be pinched or they could have bad solder connections. Dull solder points mean a weak connection and shiny solder points mean there is a strong connection. take a look at the circuit boards. Make sure there isnt a bunch of cat hair or anything screwy going on in there - it is used and you really have no Carfax history on it, lol. If you need help on how to take it apart and put it back together again there are videos up on Youtube. I've had to open up various turntables in my day. It's basically a regular maintenance situation. Beer spills, tonearms break, motors burn up, roaches borrow, used items may malfunction at some point. You wont always know exactly what your situation is if it persists without opening her up. sometimes you gotta play surgeon.
