HELP! COMPACT FLASH CARDS!

Hey SP Community,
For months now I've been trying to track down a cf card for my sp-555. I first bought a cheap a data 2gb cf card and I found my samples crackled and popped in the C-J banks. If I tried to copy a sample to these banks, the pad would flash but no sound would play. I then went through the list of compatible cf cards posted on this forum. I bought a Verbatim (green) 2gb cf card off amazon.ca and when i put it in the sp-555 it wouldn't even TURN ON! I am frustrated and I have a show coming up, and I need to access these other banks. I am located in Canada, and I have scoured all over the place only to find most stores don't carry that size of cf card (too small) or they never heard of it. Please if you have any definite cf models that work, or you know places in Canada that have them, let me know ASAP.

this one definitely works.

oh, and don't forget that you have to format each compactflash card that you put into the 555. check out the manual if you don't know how to do this.

I have three of these and they work great.

You could buy directly through Sandisk, but the price seems a bit high (card is $25 + $14 for shipping).

Hello! just bought i Verbatim 1 gb cf-card and yesterday i register here on sp-forums and i read that the verbatim cf-card doesnt work in the 404. Is that completle true? Is it 100 % that not one of the verbatim cards don´t work? I have it on the postoffice now and i have not taken it out and payed for it yet. Does anybody think that i should take a chance and pay for it and see if it works? Im from Sweden so you have to excuse me for my bad english. I think you can understand me anyways.

Ps. If anybody have a working card and wants to halp me out with it you can send me a PM.

Yeah first drunken post for me. Anywho. I have bought six different sandisk ultra 2 cards. ONly three work. The ones that work are the sandisk ultra 2 that say compact flash in grey in the upper right hand corner of the card. I have seen pics on this forum of the card I am speaking of but I am 2 faded to find it. Basically, there r two types of sandisk ultra 2 out there the ones that just say sandisk ultra 2 and the ones that say the aforementioned plus have the compact flash up in the right hand corner in a grey background peace. BTW screw these sights go 2 ebay I have a company in santa clara ca that will send u three for 60 dollars free shipping in the us. I will post the link sometime in the next couple days. Peace.

Possible u got cheap chinese ripoff cards.. tehy do that sometimes, put almost identical stickers on completely different cards

Thank you very much for this info! I have been through 2 pricey flash cards now and niether worked. I took your advice and have ordered 2 of the ones in your ebay link. I am new to the SP-555 and have fallen head over heals! I so look forward to the memory cards. I will grab a few 1gig as well.

I just update the sp-555 to version 1.04 and the new sandisk ultra 2 Gb and a few others work now fine, they did NOT work on firmware version 1.03.

so people on to the roland site and upgrade to 1.04
