imo, i would say upgrade straight away. either to the free jj or jj os1. free jj is basicaly the same, just with the added stability.

one prob i had when i first got my mpc was (what i considered) its messed up way of saving. coming from sp's where shit is saved automatically, i couldn't figger out why stuff was disappearing.

there's a good video tutorial on future producers about the best way to save (folders, etc.) but you have to be a registered user to see it.

just do a search for mpc1000 saving tutorial. i think the guy that did it is named 'mano' or something.

have fun! good luck with the knee

saving is why i orginally got jj os1. allways make a new folder and save the entire project to that. imo is the best way to save ish.

have fun spring, is a good machine. use the assingable outs 1/2 (stereo) and the input thru function to get your 808 involved. is a nice workflow.

could you explain a little more about the 808 set up your talkin about. whats this input thru, midi? and what would be the best way to use the 808 with it, i was just thinking effects, but id have to sample things out and back in. the 808 has a million pretty good effects and you can alter alot of parameters, unlike the 3 knobs on most sp's, how would i utilize it best.

as its now friday night, tad lifted but i will try.. ha

go to the mixer page/or program and go to outs, change the pads you want to go to the 808 from ST to 1/2. this uses the assignable outs 1&2 as a stereo pair. plug in to the sp's input.

plug the sp output to mpc's record in and go to the mixer page, go to input screen and turn input thru on, this ables you to monitor the sp. i use audio tracks to resample loops.

i havent got the mp out right now as on a 404 microwave mission. if doesn't make sense, its the christmas stock yo

right on, that will make sense once i get in the manual. sounds kool as fuck cause i can resample with the 808 effects. nice!!! be cool if i could sample and play a pad at the same time, on the 808 you can resample over top of the same pad, not wasting a new one. can overwrite when you resample.

THANKS NOTHINGLESS FOR THAT SP 808/MPC1000 HOOKUP TIPS.
i got it hooked up and now the 808 is an effects processor. and i can play samples from the mpc while in record mode so i and sort of resampling like a sp.
First thing about the mpc___DAYUUM YOU GOTTA PRESS ALOT OF BUTTONS!
yaw mother fuckers wasnt lying. and it takes forever to name things, but fuck it. Im loving the "tune" and the sequencing. pads are like bricks. but i used to use bricks to draw on the cement back in the hood, so im all about bricks, especially if its weed. Chopping is the shit with the free jjos, gonna totally upgrade when i get the mula.
Im gonna spend all day making programs and rock out tonight!!!
Thanks for the help guys.
and nothingless your the fucking man.

i had the same issue and picked up a 1000 with jjos2xl and the maxxed out RAM for 500 the other day.

both rule, but let me say don't expect the learning curve of the SP. It is a pretty hard transition to make especially with JJOS

just be ready to do some work and research once you get on there my man, god knows i still am!

that's awesome spring.

on the brick pads - the coloured replacement pads really do feel different. i swapped my light gray ones for black ones and never looked back. i donno if they are softer rubber, or if there's just more space between the surface and sensor so you have more cushion, but they're somefing else fo sho.

or...you could just brick it up!

im brickin it up for now then ill move on. but these mother fuckers are hard as shit. seem harder when you hit em and not hearing sounds. when a sound played it feels different. this chick came over played with my 606 and 808 and then touched the mpc and was like 'why are these so hard. i responded with 'thats what she said!' even though it didnt make any sense then laughed because them shits are like bricks. still a nice machine.
